On the evening of Tuesday December 2nd, the Hypermobility Syndromes Association (HMSA/hypermobility.org) hosted a lively online event to celebrate the launch of Jeannie Di Bon’s new book, The Integral Movement Method for Hypermobility Management. The evening combined a warm welcome, practical guidance, and an open Q&A session, giving attendees a chance to connect directly with Jeannie and the HMSA team. If you missed the event and just want to get right to the replay, you can find it here on our public videos feed. Below we've summed up the event, and the chat for those who missed it!

🎉 A Warm Welcome
The session's tone combined the usual HMSA approach of warm humour, and chilled out clarity: with cameras and microphones off to avoid overwhelming the team, and questions directed via the chat to facilitation Queen, Kim Clayden. Over 300 people registered for this one, with over half present in the waiting room, so it was a busy night for the team, while still (as expected) an awful lot of fun.
📖 About the Book
Jeannie’s new book introduces the Integral Movement Method (IMM), a structured approach to managing hypermobility that emphasizes:
Breathing and relaxation
Proprioception and stability
Balance and posture
Fascia awareness
Dr Alan Hakim's introductory contribution was particularly appreciated by the hypermobility.org team as it reminded people that not all hypermobility is Ehlers-Danlos, a reality that can often be missed in the wider community.
Dr Philip Bull FRCP, retired consultant Rheumatologist, medical advisor to the HMSA (and all-round jolly good fellow), praised the book as follows:
"This excellent book covers the methodology of ‘integral movement therapy’ for hypermobile individuals, most of whom require a different and unique approach to physical rehabilitation therapy due to the nature of the condition. Enhanced by her own lived experience, the author has developed an integrated approach which combines attention to breathing, relaxation, proprioception, stability, balance and posture as well as understanding the importance of fascia. The book is very well structured and informative, and I am delighted to recommend it"
The book is available in multiple formats:
Publisher’s website (with discount code HMSABL20, valid Dec 2–9, 2025)
🌐 Connected Resources
During the event, attendees were introduced to several related resources:
Jeannie's Website -Jeannie’s website
The Zebra Club App - Jeannie’s platform for movement therapy tailored to EDS and hypermobility (thezebra.club).
IMM Directory - A listing of therapists who've already been trained by Jeannie in the Integral Movement Method (IMM Directory).
Jeannie’s Blog - Insights from recent studies on confidence and IMM (Moving with Confidence).
YouTube Channel -Free video content to support learning (Jeannie’s YouTube).
🎁 Giveaways and Discounts
Five lucky attendees won free copies of the book, with winners drawn from those present at the live session. For everyone else, the HMSA shared a special discount code (HMSABL20) offering 20% off the publisher’s website, valid until until December 9th (Get a move on!).
💡 Key Takeaways
The chat was full of practical wisdom and encouragement:
“Doing 2 reps right is soo much better than doing ten all wrong.”
The book can be used independently of the Zebra Club app, making it accessible to all readers (though a small amount of anatomic knowledge may be needed, it's easily looked up and while providing relevent theory and information from academic sources, and written largely for health care practitioners, it never strays into territory that makes it inaccessible to the lay person, or indeed patient). It has a lot of what we'd call 'lightbulb moments' and if you're a patient reading, you're going to find yourself moving various parts of your body while doing so, in much the same way everyone in a room sits up straight when anybody mentions posture, but the book is about so much more - noticing position, training proprioception, with the all important suggested 'feedback' adaptations so important in particular to the neurodivergent community.
Jeannie’s recent MSc achievement was celebrated with applause, emojis, and off-camera cake (we started on the mince pie swirls, and regret nothing).
📅 What’s Next?
The HMSA continues to support its community with upcoming events:
Sunday, December 7th @ 11:00 – All Regions Support Group Meeting (festive jumpers optional). Event details

Donations are always welcome, it costs money to run the website, print our publications and materials, run our helpline etcetera: Donate here. Every contribution helps the HMSA's dedicated volunteer team continue their work supporting people affected by hypermobility.
✨ Final Thoughts
