About the Event

Neuroplasticity and the Unpredictable Body: Reducing the Extra Layer of High Alert Around Pain, Injury and Flare-Ups

In this one-hour session Natalie will cover:

  • What neuroplasticity is, how the brain and nervous system continually adapt through experience, and why this can be relevant when symptoms have persisted for a long time

  • How repeated pain, injury, subluxations, dizziness or unpredictable flare-ups can understandably teach the brain and nervous system to become more watchful and protective

  • How protective responses including fight, flight and freeze can become more easily activated, and how this can contribute to bracing, checking, monitoring and avoidance

  • The difference between appropriate awareness of a genuinely vulnerable or symptomatic body and the additional layer of learned protection and hypervigilance that can develop around symptoms
