About the Event
Free to members - £8 for non-members.
Emily Cochrane is a Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CEP) but don't be fooled by the name - although she's specialised in exercise prescription, her treatment focus is on education and energy management to improve patient symptoms, independence, predictability, and overall quality of life. Growing up in Australia and now living in the UK, Emily developed a passion for working in this field when she was diagnosed with PoTS, CFS/ME, and Endometriosis. Like many, she was faced with a challenging health journey and struggled to find adequate health care from practitioners who truly understood what she was going through.
About the session
Clinical Exercise Physiologists are less well known in the UK. Emily will explain more about her work and give an introduction to Clinical Physiology for the management of chronic health conditions and also touch on understanding energy management and “Trigger identification” in this session.
About Emily Cochrane
Emily specialises in lifestyle management for PoTS, Dysautonomia, HSD, hEDS, Fibromyalgia, persistent pain, and fatigue. Emily uses detailed physiological education to help individuals understand the interplay of their chronic health conditions to increase their knowledge as to why symptoms can occur. This understanding can helps individuals to stabilise their symptoms which can lead to more predictable and balanced lives, as well as the ability to sustainably re-introduce activities (eg. work, school etc.) with confidence. Additionally, Emily focuses on personalised management strategies to help people wind down their nervous systems to experience less symptoms, and provides exercise prescription for those who feel they would benefit from progressing or re-introducing this form of movement into their lives. Emily also live with PoTS, ME/CFS, and Endometriosis and understands that everyone’s experiences are incredibly different, which is why bespoke treatment is so important.
This session will be run on Zoom. There will be plenty of time for Q&A.
