About the Event
This webinar, aimed at professionals, provides excellent insight into the challenges around communicating with patients about long term conditions where self-management is key (such hypermobility syndromes).
Professionals often leave an appointment feeling frustrated at apparent resistance and hostility. Meanwhile patients are left feeling unheard and unsupported. Much of this is down to communication.
Learn about some of the common misunderstandings between patient and professional, and gain an insight into why these occur and how to address them, in this lively talk which draws on Hannah’s years of personal experience in self-management and creating effective patient-professional relationships.
(This talk is a sample from Hannah Ensor's 3 part webinar series, 'Improving communication between patient and professional'.)
Tickets cost £20, but are free to HMSA professional members.
Learning points:
To develop understanding of the challenges experienced by patients during healthcare appointments.
To understand the impact of the language / responses given by healthcare workers on patient engagement.
To improve your ability to communicate effectively with complex patients and those who appear uncooperative.
