Volunteers needed!

We want all our videos to be accessible to people with audio processing difficulties and hearing impairments. This means a lot of transcribing. We will be using youtube - and the youtube auto-transcribing app, but of course the app isn't perfect (especially with tricky words like 'hypermobility' and 'Ehlers-Danlos syndrome') so we need people to run the transcribing app then go through and correct it.

Hours: flexible. Volunteers can choose what time they would like to give, and whether they would prefer to volunteer regularly or just for a one-off project.

Key skills:

  • Good ability to spot and correct errors in written text.
  • Good ability to listen to speech and accurately write it down.
  • Moderately tech-literate.

Preferred skills:

  • Comfortable using Facebook. This role is currently managed via a closed facebook group. (This is not essential. We know not every one use Facebook so we are looking in to long term solutions which do not require specific social media platforms.)
  • Experience using Youtube subtitles/transcription facilities.

Number of vacancies: 4
