Mehret has a story that will sound familiar to many of us, as she explains "I had an office-based career spanning over 10 years before I found Pilates. Throughout my teens, I had certain Musculoskeletal pains that presented in my back, hands, knees which went undiagnosed for over 20 years.

In my early 30’s I was finally diagnosed as having ‘Joint Hypermobility Syndrome’. Now having reached 40, when I compare my mobility, pain threshold, core strength, breathing I can honestly say I was worse off then! I found Pilates over 10 years ago and it has improved my way of life 100%.

Her story does not end there though, as stories do Mehret twisted with the plot and qualified in CBT for Chronic Pain while working side by side with physiotherapists at Camden Physiotherapy and receiving mentoring from leading Hypermobility consultants and specialists. "Having been diagnosed with Hypermobility, whilst suffering from a work-related injury,  my own firsthand experience of chronic pain has evolved my teaching methods to focus more on rehabilitation work and ‘real life’ mental and physical health problems. I can teach a variety of classes such as Mat and Reformer Pilates, Yoga, Aerobics! I now specialise in footwork and Rehab."

And so Mehret began her mission to educate and empower others to transform their lives, just as she did, which is after all, what the HMSA is all about. Will you join us?
