Will hot tub or jacuzzi help?

Postby mome22 » Thu Mar 01, 2007 7:30 pm

I was just wondering if anyone else uses or has used a hot tub or jacuzzi to help with the pain. We are planning on buying one in about 2 weeks but I was wondering if it helps at all.

Thanks in advance

Hiya,
I use the jacuzzi when i go to the health suite at my local pool- it is just like a big warm bath but more space to relax in and float! I can't stand the vibrations though so i like it without the bubbles. Go and try one out first though before you by one- always try before you buy!! ;) I find it quite relaxing.

We were actually buying it anyway, I have been in one and loved it. But my son, who is 9, I thought may benefit from it. He has EDS. Of course when he is in Im not going to put the water temp the way I like it. LOL He would come out as a little lobster. He is also allergic to chlorine and bromine so when I went to the spa store I mentioned it and there is a different thing we can use and they offered us a year supply for free!

A years supply free- that rocks!! how did you manage that one?! ;)
When i am in the bath the water can sometimes irritate my skin and i use oilatumn juniour. I know you wouldn't use his in the jaquizzi though- but thought i would mention it for bath times! hehe

Well for the free years supply. It may have been that I was trying to act not interested anymore because the stuff would probably be expensive. LOL. I also got the delivery and setup cut to half. And the man told me if I can get a doctors note that says he would benefit from it the sales tax could be waived.
I have never heard of oilatumn junior. What is it and where is it normally sold?

Thanks again,
Melissa

hehe that rocks :)
I get it on prescription. I did use 'oilatumn' when i was in the bath but when i was in hospital they had 'oilatumn juniour' and i preffered that! You just add a bit to the bath water when running the bath and it helps itchy skin. :P

water

Postby ali g » Sat Mar 31, 2007 5:22 pm

my daughter saw dr hasson and we mentioned she was doing a course of hydro and he told us to stop straight away he explained that hydro is good for arthritis as it relaxes the muslse but in the case of hms our joints are already too relaxed so the heat of the water can put you at more risk of dislocations when you get out

Wow, a hot tub - what bliss that would be. ENJOY!! (In the meantime I'll just have to eat more beans  )

ha ha hayley, was thinking that myself!!!

Id love a jacuzzi/hot tub, cant go in one at moment though as they can bring on labour app!!!
Re the dislocation thing I guess you need to weigh it up...its true what ali g says but I for one dont suffer with that with my hms...Ive only ever had one dislocation, that was my finger and that was cos I punched it!!!...so what Im saying is I could use one quite happily and never have a problem, if you have more severe hms/eds then that would be worth considering.....

If you get one I think you should have a party and invite us all round!!! ha ha save Hayley eating her beans!!

Hot tub sounds fab.

I like Lianne's idea of you inviting us all round for a pool party. Especially as we are in England and you are in the sunshine state. Parteeeeeeee.

Enjoy and I hope it benefits your son.

A jacuzzi/hot tub sounds like bliss! There's no way I can afford one but I DO spend ALOT of time in the bath. I'm regularly in there for over 2 hours (topping up with hot of course) with my essential oils.

I know I shouldn't, but I often fall asleep in the bath as it's such a novelty for my body to be so relaxed. It's the one place I can have everything fully supported so I'm not pulling something out of socket.

i got one and its fab helps with pain. i put 500 grams of beauty grade sea salt in and it eases the stiffness lovely for the aches but you do need a drink when you get out. i also add 20 drops of lavender essential oils

My brother and his girlfriend bought me something called an "air bubble massage machine" from one of the shopping channels as my Christmas gift.

It's fantastic, I lie in the bath for hours with it and it really helps sore and aching joints and muscles.

It's basically a mat that sticks with suckers to the bottom of the bath...attached to that is a hose and then a little machine with all the different settings and controls on it.

Oh I found a link (please feel free to remove mods if it's against the rules)

http://www.gizoo.co.uk/Products/HomeGar ... athMat.htm

Much cheaper than getting a new bath installed and I love mine-I wouldn't be without it now.
