another residential weekend?

Postby nickb » Thu Jul 19, 2007 1:15 pm

Ok, I know I said never again lol-but we are considering another weekend
Its only in the possible stage at the mo but...

It would be at some point next year-and I hope to do something like the ball, we'd have it at a hotel, hopefully with a discounted accomodation rate then people could decide to come to the day event, or stay over too

So a few questions...

Would you like one?

When?

Where? I'd like somewhere central for alot of people so alot fo people could attend

Please let me know what you think

Ooh! Ooh! I missed out on the last one so Id definitely be interested(usual health/finance/childcare caveats apply). By next year I hope to be far more mobile too, so should be able to drive to wherever you hold it.

I would love to come. I will start saving now just in case

Location wise I'm not too bothered - I will get there somehow. My only real concern would be wheelchair access - but I'm guessing that would be obviously standard giving the client base

I'd probably prefer to stay overnight as travelling a fair distance twice in one day is usually not a sensible option.

A weekend would be lovely.

Location - I have just had a superb stay at The Menzies Welcombe Hotel and Spa in Stratford Upon Avon. Sorry to say not sure about wheelchair but it only takes a phone call.

Could even take in some culture with a bit of Wil Shakespeare!

I would love to go as well. Somewhere not too far away from Scotland as Abi said would be fantastic (bearing in mind I'm almost as far north as you can get on the mainland!). Good transport links would be important too because I might not drive if it's a bit far.

Good point - I would appreciate it being fairly close to a reasonable train station.

Liverpool area would be good for me, as I can get a cheaper flight to there.

sounds good to me... I particulalry liked getting access to the experts in the field (the paid ones and the unpaid ones, that is). Would that be on the agenda?

Hi Nick

Does this mean that the weekend at the Rest mentioned here is not going to happen?

:bye:

I'm glad the hassles of organising the ball haven't put you off from arranging another - hopefully I'll be able to make it next time around.

Similarly, I'd be up for a weekend event, other health issues aside. Perhaps you could arrange seminars for carers in the mornings so that we could have a longer lie in

Hi
I`d love to come to a residential weekend and possibly 2 adult daughters too,(my son too if there`s something there for kids with HMS). Near to good rail links would be ideal, and not too far North(I`m in S. Wales). A journey of over 3 hours or so on train would be out ofthe question without stopping halfway. I`d have come to the ball but have an important event on that day. If it`s not possible to get a location that suits everyone how about doing two separate ones , one in North and the other South(hate to separate us like that but may be only way?...)
