Wow Hayley, that's fantastic! Might find out how much it would cost for me to get an appointment to get my hip checked out! My only problem would be that I'd have to go to Edinburgh for it!

Well, that's me on the list for the operation now, yippee!! The consultant is going to release the nerve at the elbow first and see how much that helps. If the wrist pain is still there after that he will investigate further.

The hospital was very efficient today too. I arrived at 8:45am for clinic starting at 9am. I was seen to at 9:05 and was in x-ray at 9:10. The x-ray wait was the longest, then I had to go back in for one more. Then I took the films back to the consultant where I signed the consent form for the op. Then I went for a pre-op assessment. All that and I was back in the car at 10:15am!!

Thanks Hannah. The waiting list for the op is about 3 months but at least I know something is going to be done now so I can bear with the pain for the time being.

I have just spotted your posts about your private appointment. That's great news that the doctor was able to get you into his NHS clinic so soon and that you are now on the waiting list.

I hope your operation date comes through soon and you will soon be on the road to recovery.

Hiya Hayley

Glad to hear you have a result, makes waiting for the op a bit more bearable if you have a date/time to aim towards.

I'm also having probs with my Ulnar nerve at the mo as well. Can't sleep properly etc. I have a elasticated bandage wound round my wrist today, trying to keep my hand sort of still, I also keep putting one round my elbow. It's starting to make my shoulder hurt as well and I must admit to being a bit crabby at times :evil:

Think I'll just see if it calms down, if not, I'll see my GP about it again.

Yes, I'd go and see your GP if I were you! Apparently if the nerve is trapped it can become more damaged the longer you leave it so even after have the op, it may not completely cure it. It's also recommended that the arm is kept straight. Hope you feel better soon!

Hi Hayley

The pain seems to come and go, sometimes it's constant and other times it's like a quick dull pain. My elbow looks a bit odd, sort of like a fat worm has got under the skin :shock:

Have also found that my fingers feel a bit weak. Think I might also ask Prof Bird, am seeing him in 2 weeks and he likes to be supplied with notes that he can add to his patients records

Hi San

That's a good idea to mention it to Prof bird, he may be able to tell you what it is. If the tingling and weakness is in your ring finger and little finger, it could be the trapped nerve but if it's in the other three then it's more likely to be Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

Hmmmm, in the last few days my wrist pain seems to have subsided! Can a trapped nerve release itself and if it can, what are the chances of it getting trapped again. Obviously, if it's not trapped anymore, the surgery would be pointless or would it be better to go ahead with surgery more as an exploratory thing?
