Hello

The HMSA website needs an overhaul, new articles, a facelift and a general tidy up.

So-what would be on your wishlist?

Please bear in mind that its not like the forum, so we can't keep changing the content once its up there- but all ideas will be given consideration

I'd like ideas in general, but especially for the Members only section

:D

Come on people!!! This is YOUR website!!!

Remember when you first found it? What do you want to see on it? What would be useful for you to have access to in the Members section???

What about the layout? Is there anything that you think could/should be easier to access?

Any ideas at all, whatever you think, just post it here, remember ALL idea's will be considered!

I would've liked to see a list of members, the area they live, and a phone number if they didn't mind being contacted.

Obviously, this would have to be voluntary from each member, and only accessable to other members.

Just a thought :)

Hi Kay,

There is a community list on the homepage but it is very out of date. Members are also asked whether they would like their details added to a contact list at time of sign up and supplied with the list with their membership pack. This is also currently being reviewed and updated. We will add your suggestion to the list tho'.

Hi

I am relatively new to the site and I must admit I LOVE IT! I could not cope without you lot now!!!!

From my point of view I have just found that if I need specific info it can be hard for me to find sometimes. But the biggest frustration has been that i cannot access the 'memebers only' area although i am a member and also cannot access the'dungeon' and don't know why?

Apart from that I love it X :)

Hi Rachael,

Information on gaining access to locked areas can be found here.

If the members section you wish to gain access to is the one on the main site then you would have been issued with a username and password in your membership pack.

As part of the update process we hope to make some of the most discussed problems/areas easier to find.

Just a thought but I wonder if we were to ask the medical professionals etc. advisers to the HMSA, what they would most like to see and how they envisage the site evolving in an ideal world, whether that would help them to help us more effectively. This was suggested to me by a peep who would rather remain annonymous who had had feedback from a medical professional in Leeds.

Good idea - Lindsey

I'd like some of the articles that have appeared in the newsletter on the site.(prof B's "how to appproach docs to get dxed" (could be very handy for peops battling to get taken serious), Hakim's article on autonomic dysfunction, are the ones that spring to mind)

Already planned m'dear :)

also updates/results(or links to where this can be found) of research that has been going on in the last few years would be great.

again-we are asking the docs now :)

or maybe some link to a "remote storage site" that's easier to update so that new articles, research results can easily be added as they 'happen'(rather than having to wait for a site overhaul to be able to add new info) ?????

with Lindsey onbaord with this now it will be easier to add new stuff

design wise- navigation feels very good to me as is- only thing  I still really dont like the "pilates coffee afternoon" picture, still prefer the 'just graphics' previous look of homepage...

I had to go back and look at the image :? its a picture from the residential weekend-but point taken!

Being quite new myself I think that recent medical articles(if there are any) and a little bit about self help, would be good.

Already planned - thanks :)

I've found yes I've been dianosed but what now? The page tells you what you have but it doesn't give a wide range of treatment avenues, might be going off here in trying to explain myself(you'll have to forgive me I'm on pill cocktail at the min). I haven't yet had the chance to see a Prof and so would like to know what they suggest in terms of home exercise.

This may be problematic as we all have differing degrees of problems and theres not really a one-size-fit's-all solution :( but we will see what we can do :)

There are points about yoga, swimming etc but in my situation at the minute I'm having too much sick time from work and so can't afford to join classes etc. On that note I've been advised my a disability employment advisor to claim DLA but feel un confident in doing so because my doctor is totally disregarding my HMS.

Sorry this probablywon't help at all and I've gone totally off the subject but I'm lost! :help:

The drop downs can be ...challenging. How about color-coded sections, by headers, and then when you click that section, you can see all the subsections, instead of having to wade through multiple lists?

I could maybe do a mock up if you'd like to 'see' better. Or maybe more like schematic, by words.

I have 'filing sickness' (I actually have a passion for organizing, and files in particular). I tend to think in terms of easy organization. Color coding is attractive as well as easy.

Glad I'm no the only one who has issues with the drop downs-they don't drop down for me they disappear  that was first on my wishlist don't worry!

Hiya,
I think this website totally rocks, it is my lifeline and i would be lost without it!!
It would rock though if the community directory could be updated- it would be good if when people post about them and whereabouts they live in the directory that it would put a date on the posts. Because i have mooved house and had a name change since i did put myself down on there and also have a different email account too! Just a thought anywayz. ;)

As it is so out of date, the community directory has been removed - it is being reviewed.

Hi There,

I have never been able to get into the Members area either - I honestly cannot remember now if I was given a user name and password when I first joined ( :duh:  ) - stoopid Brain Fof I'm afraid  .

What sort of things are in the Members only area anyway - I've always meant to ask but keep forgetting.

How about a list of member recommended links, resources eg: relaxation cds, websites etc. People mention stuff on the boards all the time but it can be tricky to find them again. It could have a review/comment feature too?

What about links to latest published information on HMS/EDS in the members section?

I know there are lots of links floating around the forum, but having them in one place would be a lot easier, and then you can always say to newcomers 'join the HMSA, then you have access to links to loads of relevant articles' - dunno if copyright etc. might get in the way, but thought it was worth asking. :)
