Hi Skippy-Jo
My mum has had a hip replacement done last January. She doesn't have hms but has OA and RA and her hip made really horrid clonking noises and it really hurt her so a hip replacement was the best option. After the op she wasn't allowed to bend her leg at all and was on a morphine infusion. The next day they had the physio come in and start gentle exercises and she gradually progressed eachday until the 4 or 5 day she came home. She wasn't allowed to lie on either of her sides just on her back and then 6 weeks after she was allowed to lay on her operated side and then 12 weeks later on the other side. We also got a pressure mattress (via district nurses) for her due to the fact of lying on her back was taking it's toll. It was painful for her but now she says she's never looked back and wished she'd had it done sooner. My mum will probably need the other hip doing at some point in the future though. I hope this helps and I wish you the best of luck. Anymore info you need just ask.
Take Care
