Here are a few pictures of 'Best Wishes' cards I have made recently. I would have taken more but the batteries died in my digi cam.

I've done a bit of Fimo in my time, and I like to draw and paint. I stopped doing it for a while, but a couple of years ago I took my sketching stuff with me on holiday and found that sitting outside in beautiful scenery was lovely, and that drawing my surroundings helped me to really see and appreciate things.

My usual craft activity is cross-stich (counted). At the moment I'm doing a big barn owl with small pictures of woodland wildlife round the edge
Barn owl
HMS stops me from going too mad on it because my hands, neck and back won't stand for it (I've been doing it for 3 years now!). I also enjoy blackwork (very absorbing). Crochet's another of my things. All my friends keep having babies, so it keeps me permanently in work on that score.

I always look at the card stuff when I go into our local craft shop and think it looks like fun - I may try it one day. I sometimes do embroidered cards for people's special occasions, but boy is it time consuming! I always end up doing it the night before!

Hi, I used to make birthday cards for everyone, but don't really have time at the moment. I do usually make our Christmas cards, and being stretched for time this year, I am going to do Bethlehem By Night. Ha ha ha!

Also tie dye and decorate clothing, make jewellery (beady things and friendship bracelets etc), used to do a lot of airbrush art (cards/ pictures), and have made a load of cushion covers for our house, and for nieces/ nephews. Most recently, I made some curtains for Kate and a sack for her toys. Although it's not exactly crafty, I like writing music and poetry too.

Postby shen » Sat Dec 30, 2006 1:51 am

For anyone who paints or uses brushes for other uses i found these brushes, they have a soft grip and are great if you have trouble with you
hands, they arent expensive either usually between £1:50 - £1:99 and often on special offer, i got some today for 3 for 2.

wow, thats really pretty! i love silver jewellery and its just the style i normally wear!!

when im really uncomfortable i make those little friendship bracelets made out of sewing thread (i use nylon thread so i can burn the ends and seal them). and when ive finished each one i give it to a friend! they can always tell how uncomfortable ive been by looking at each other's wrists- if they all have a bracelet i usually get a huuge group hug!!

i find it useful to 'loose' myself in arts and crafts when im sore, it seems to make it easier to deal. i used to draw and paint when i was younger and i also love making cards, but i use the pc! and ive been thinking about taking up knitting again.. i was really into it when i was a kid and knitted a really lovely pink fluffy teddy bear (donated it to one of my baby cousins). anyone else knit?

What a gorgeous bracelet! Well done you! Just the kind of thing I like to wear too!

I found myself thinking the other day, that it would be nice to have an online HMSA shop for HMSA peeps, so we can sell our crafty projects to one another, and raise a little money for our fave charity while we were at it. But I don't make much saleable stuff, and have not a clue how to make a website! I could then get people who like knitting to make me some leg-warmers ... can't seem to find any! Though, My Mum is going through another crochet phase, so I've asked her, and she says she's making me leg warmers, and a matching neck warmer! Gotta love my Mum! Wonder how long it'll take her... she's not that much more organised than me, and I'm terrible!

try dance shops. they normally stock a huuuge supply of different colours, lengths etc. i saw a lovely pink sparkly pain in Porselli's (near covent garden, london) but i have these little cubby legs so i dont suit leg warmers!! smaller shops may not stock them but im sure they will order them in for you.

and ive just had a look on ebay and they have lots and most are under £5 incl postage -

legwarmers

Great Bracelet Tiresix!! You are very talented,

Gosh, all this talk of Leg Warmers is making me all nostalgic for the 80's when I was training to be a Dancer.

I remember when I was about 12 (in 1982) I had a "Kids From Fame" Grey Marl and Red Bat Wing Top with matching skirt and Red Leg warmers that I just luuuved to wear to Dance Class :P

It's made me smile just thinking about it

Oh god Fi I had one of those too!!

I used to knit-my mum taught herself to knit left handed (she's a right-hander) so she could teach me. Unfortunately my main problems are now my wrists and neck so I've had to give up, I can't hold the weight anymore :( But my mum bought me a kit to knit wire bracelets for xmas so I'm going to give that a go when I have a better day :)

If anyone does want to sell handmade items and donate the proceeds (or a percentage of) to the hmsa they can either do so through Missionfish on Ebay (details in the last newsletter) or if there is interest I can make a page on my website shop for the hmsa like I did for the Christmas cards
