wrist surgery - ulnar shortening osteotomy

hi all, I am due to have surgery on my right wrist in november, i am having an 'ulnar shortening osteotomy', they are going to remove 5mm of bone from my ulna. I broke my radius in april and that is supposed to be the longest bone in the forearm, but mine is now too long and is causing alot of problems. The cartlidge on the end of my ulna has moved and is making its way between the two bones.
luckily my mri results show that this is not torn yet but my Consultant says that if left I will have some major damadge to my wrist within six months. I am worried about having this done as it might not be the end to my problems, has anyone ever had anything like this done?

Hi all, it's only one week until I go in to have surgery on my wrist and am starting to get really worried about it. I suppose it's because I have had problems with my wrist and hand since childhood and I am concerned that my op might not help matters, as I cant use my hand very much at the moment my fingers are starting to sublux and so is my thumb.

I had surgery on my shoulder 6 years ago which was unsuccesful, so I am getting really worried about this, so any advice would be greatfully recievrd at this time.

I have not had any surgery on my wrists (yet ) but I do have a lot of problems in this area and wear wrist and thumb splints.

I am home safe and sound, am a bit sore and rather tired I had a bit of a reaction to the morphine that was given in recovery, I now resemble a pin cushion as my veins were less than co-operative. I have to go back in three weeks for a check up, at least my wrist is now the same shape as my left one, it looked a bit like a second elbow before.

does the fusion of the wrist mean you are unable to move your wrist again? ive been pondering that same operation becuasei cant even open a door now. i feel so helpless and none of my friends are understanding or even belive i have aserrious problem thats not my fault...
