It could be a posture issue, when i started working my core muscles (in my case so much pushing of my wheelchair around)
my posture and some of the back pain improved.

Most definitely! Hoping when she starts her physio that lots of things will improve.

Maybe I'm being optimistic, but think that's the best way to be, gives her more encouragement to help herself if that makes sense :)

DDay is approaching faster than we thought. Next Tuesday she goes back to the fracture clinic. The nurses couldn't believe she was back again :wall: Almost a year of monthly visits. First for the first major dislocation, then the broken ankle (6 months) now for the patella alta. Knee cap is still going out with every couple of steps, if it would just stay in the joint it would be half the battle. Only had to physically pull it back into place a couple of times this last couple of weeks, so that's a bonus, maybe that's a sign that it's healing. Hoping to see the nice young German doc again who wasn't afraid to give it a name and query it further.

Good luck to your daughter. Hope she gets to physio as that will help. My son has been having patella problems again the last few weeks,he needs to do his exercises.

Does she have insoles? Mine helped my knees and hips, in fact ive got an orthotics appointment coming up. i know it sounds
strange but fallen arches can lead to knee and hip problems.

Just an idea.

She's had very little help whatsoever trekster. Given a full leg brace for the knee each time. You've probably seen the ones. Not really suitable for a woman's shaped leg, no matter how tight u put them on then just fall off again. Just keep thinking we'll get this bit sorted first, then another bit goes.

Arch problems even cause headaches. It affects knees, hips, back, neck and as a result head. The splint is a backsplint and they are awful. Sadly doctors treat us as parts and not a whole. That is why I pay to see a chiropractor,he treats the whole person including the emotions. Hugs to you both.

Hi and welcome

Yes I would keep pushing to get a diagnosis, it has taken me over 20 years to get one but it is such a relief to have one.

Yes it has happened to me, once while on holiday abroad  and I also had a partial one the other night, I do wear bandages for bed now though.

Yes, my GP told me that people with HMS can take ages to heal.

Fell over the cat last night, knee popped, landed on the prev broken ankle rather heavily. :wall: :wall: :wall: Off to A&E last night, luckily no further damage done.

Haven't really force for the rheumy appointment as yet. Waiting to see what fracture clinic can do for her before we do that.

Tomorrow morning, we should know more.

Thanks for all the advice guys

Och I know madmum. I must admit, Stacey's been a bit more careful since she's been using the crutches almost full time for the past 6 months. She can usually fall over fresh air too, should really bubble wrap them and hopefully wouldn't do so much damage to themselves.

Just back from fracture clinic, seen the lovely German doc again, he's not happy with the way patella isn't staying in the joint at all, so referring her for an MRI scan and physio. Then to go from there, back on waiting lists again I'm afraid, but still one tiny step forward. It might only be baby steps but feel we're finally getting a wee bit of help.

Aww bless him.

Stacey's just isn't staying where it should at all, popping every couple of steps, not going right out the way it does when she has to physically pull the knee cap into place (although this is happening, it's not as frequent, hopefully a sign of things getting better)

I did laugh at her when she had that fall, because she swears blind her elbows aren't affected, one popped a wee bit when she was trying not to weight bear. Think most of the time she's on that river in Egypt. De Nile!
