I think having my wisdom teeth out has helped me get back on track, since christmas i've stayed pretty much the same. In the last 4 days though i've lost 2.5lbs because i can only eat soft foods. Woo! Now the task come to keep it up once i can get back to eating solids. :shifty:

I'm down to 10st 8lb and that was before 'the amazing puking migraine' that lasted for 2 days.

We shall have to have a weight loss support group get together at the residential this year, I imagine we won't recognise each other we'll all be so slim

Unfortunately I don't have a cycling machine. I have a skiing machine though, maybe that's better?

Back up 4.6lbs :duh: Dreadfully awful week. Some of it will be the really bad constipation I've got going on though so will come down pretty quickly :)

Oh well i finally bit the bullet and started a diet Day one was yesterday and i did pretty well. I'm calorie counting with the help of the kellogs website, i need to stick to 1400 a day and i want to drop a stone, i'm currently about 12stone 2lbs and i haven't been this heavy since i was 20. Over the winter with doing my back in and general aches and pains and cold etc i have just scoffed cake and chocoloate and have been very inactive. So now spring is here, and my body isn't playing hell i figured i would attempt the shed the weight Fingers crossed.

Well following advice and a lot of hard work I have managed to lose 10.5lb over the last 8 weeks.....rejoined W/W and thankfully so far so good! I have a long way to go but buying smaller jeans yesterday has definitely helped to keep me motivated!

Haven't been weighing myself recently, but I feel like I've lost weight, and my stomach has been REALLY sucked in by the exercises my physio gave me two weeks ago.

I've been avoiding easter temptations really well, but in the end I prefer exercise to cutting down on food, though obviously a mixture of both is good. Exercise has the double effect of burning up calories and toning you up so you look thinner.

I've been using a pokewalker to motivate me to up my step count. On a school day I generally do about 10000 to 15000 steps.

@Lauren, do you find lax tummy muscles a problem? Mine are really bad. They told me I needed to have a 'healthy' waist measurement of under 32 inches, but even when I was really skinny, my tummy couldn't shrink back that far (I've had three kids and ballooned with all three). I think perhaps for us, the waist measurement thing isn't that useful to estimate our health.

Mind you, I'm currently at 39inches, and there is no way that's good :( I'm also two stone overweight and on gabapentin that makes me hungry all the time. What I need is some willpower. Anyone got any to lend?

Haha, I was reading this the other day!

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-16845204

I've always had poor upper body strength, and I think lax stomach muscles are a big part of that. For some reason I need to build up my muscles so much more than other people to maintain any kind of strength. On the other hand it's good motivation to keep on doing the physiotherapy, having those tight tummy muscles has really improved my self confidance.

Well done you.

The one HMS/EDS knowledgeable physio I ever saw told me that unfortunately, we have to work our muscles constantly to avoid wasting, and that seems to be the case with me. Maybe it's because moving is painful, I don't move enough, or maybe my HMS/EDS problems mean my muscles don't build properly. Either way, eternal vigilance seems to be the price of health!

Hi can I join you?

I lost 4.5 stone when I was first diagnosed with HMS & it helped a lot, since then I've gained 2 stone back though, mostly over the last year as I've had constant injuries from every exercise I try (subluxing hip while swimming, & knee while just walking, that sort of thing!)& chronic fatigue meaning I need food to keep going!! Back to basics & calorie counting now though & I've Stuck to it for 3 days at 1200 calories a day & when my neck recovers from its current spasm I'll be trying out the Pilates DVDs I've just bought.. At 5' 7" I want to get back below 10 stone as I know it will make a huge difference. must :whip: myself into shape!
