sorry to hear that ciderpig, thats not the news you wanted to hear :( . My referral was delayed on my feedback letter from prof Grahame because my pots is not under control enough to do the 3 week stint, that was nearly a year ago and wont know really if I am considered under control until my autonomic review in November.
Did they make this decision from your pre assessment appointment? and have they actually said "no" to you going in? I dont really know what to suggest only that maybe your g.p could write a letter of support and that you manage to work without issues. Many people with severe pain and joint problems have depression because they are trying to cope with the problems that they have, but Obviously I dont know how it affects you and wouldnt want to give you advice that doesnt help, but I really hope that perhaps they can get around these issues and that you get the help you need.
take care

My 3 week rehabilitation has been postponed :-(
It was supposed to start 8th May.
Apparently the rehab unit at Stanmore Hospital has had a major flood and needs to close for complete refurbishment.

So back to waiting again!!

I know it's no-one's fault but feeling a bit deflated

Oh well just have to hope the wait isn't too long.

Anyone else affected?

It happened while I was there. Originally the estimate was 4-6 weeks but it looks like it will be a lot longer. The heating system in there was completely out of whack, it was either freezing cold or absolutely roasting hot. They noticed that there was a leaking radiator so they pulled up the floorboards and that's when they opened a big can of worms because they found a lot more than they bargained for. I hope they get it sorted soon but there was a lot of problems with the place, so although it will be a longer wait at least the place will be in a lot better condition for it :bday:

I spoke to them about it. Buiding work is scheduled until June, and that's if they finish on time. They're not doing any more pre-admission assessments at the moment as they have enough of a backlog. I have an appointment with Dr Cohn on April 2nd - I would imagine it will be at least a year before I get admitted now...

Hi all

I got a letter today saying my rehabilitation team assessment for the progtamme is on June 15th, so 3 months to wait for that. But at least I got the letter!

That doesn't seem fair, anyone with a long term health problem would be depressed and could have OCD.
is there anything your GP can give you to get the OCD and depression under control so you could access
stanmore?

As theres flood repairs happening at the moment, is there any point in me asking for a cancellation appointment?

Trekster - have you been referred to Dr C? I don't think the wait is too long to see her. Then she refers you on to the rehab team...

Trying to be positive about my date being cancelled but finding it hard. I look after my father-in-law who has dementia and am trying to get a care package for him. It was all geared around me going into Stanmore. Sounds awful but I was looking forward to focusing on my health, cos I feel like my father-in-law is draining me. I love him to bits but no-one gets how hard living with HEDS can be. Sorry gone off topic but just feeling a bit low.

Hope they send me another date soon then at least I have a focus. I keep telling myself that at least it will be nicer if refurbished :)

Hi trekster,
I had to have my appointment with dr Cohen, have a 4 month wait for preassessment and then when I was told in the letter that I was accepted for rehab I then asked and got a cancellation space.
