he wasnt really being unreasonable, he's actually a really good coah, but he was trying to encourage to me try it without a mat at a much lower height. i think it was actually ME bouncing too high that caused my injury.

i'm just so fed up with the whole situation, i dont HAVE a physio or a consultant, i'm supposed to be seeing prof g in june for my first appt, but i've already been told i have HMS by 2 physios (was having physio for scoliosis), several GP's and an ortho. the only treatment i'm having at the moment is an enormous prescription for co-codamol :S and i'm trying to sort all of this out on my own, i'm a few hundred miles from my parents and they arent up for helping me. just getting an appt with prof g has been a nightmare, icant imagine having to do this stuff for the rest of my life.

i'm only 18 and i just feel like an old lady, its not fair that i can't jump on a trampoline like everyone else :(

Hi Lollypop,

I hear your absolute frustration. It is the sort of frustration that most of us on this website can probably sympathize with. It sounds to me that you need some specialist physio, which hopefully prof G will be able to help you get Try and keep positive (I know it is hard). With the correct form of graduated exercise prescribed from an expert in the field will make you stronger and enable your body to me more resiliant. In the meantime pace everything you do so as not to push your joints too much. Do a search on pacing on this site.

Good luck

My son is only 12 and has had to give up sport as he gets too many injuries. He slipped off a step and hurt his groin. You could see your gp and get referred to physio before seeing prof g. Also look at a local rheumy who understands hms. You would then have local back up.

well, some good news and some bad.

i went trampolining again last night without too much pain, (though i kept overrotating my shoulders, ouch!) was feeling really positive, one of the girls i share a trampoline with is a physio and was reccomending all of these exercises to strengthen my neck and stuff (my head always snaps back onto the bed when i'm in back drop, which causes brain pain!) but this morining i am achey. which is kinda to be expected, but also i've got this super wierd bruise-y thing on my shoulder blade.

it looks kinda like a bruise or the kind of mark you get when the skin has been under pressure and the blood vessels have burst, leaving little red dots in a greenish-purple mark. it doesnt hurt if you poke it like a bruise would, but the whole general area is quite sore when i'm moving. last night my shoulder blades rather than my actual shoulder joint were clicking and popping all over the place, now i'm worried that doing this could have somehow damaged the blood supply and caused bleeding. is this possible? has anyone else had this happen??? the mark seems to have got bigger sinc ei first noticed it this morning, which is kinda whats worrying me!

Lollypop

Sounds like some bruising. Us hypermobiles bruise really easily and most of the time you cant remember how you might have done it. Might also be friction marks from hitting the trampoline. Glad you have a physio at the trampoline club. I remember my head feeling as though it was falling off when doing a back drop (I was 15 at the time). Dont think I could trampoline now though!

Keep fit.

haha, i suppose i expected that response.

i'm pretty sure its NOT a bruise. if it is its a very weird one, esp given that it doesnt hurt/isnt tender. and its still growing!!

Could be a haematoma, saw similar in animals with aural haematomas. Would get it checked.

Hi Lollypop,

After your update, I agree with madmum - get it checked out. As you say a bruise would not grow like that!

I have a trampette which I use for 10 minutes a day. My physio seemed happy to hear it (mostly because it's a real chore to get me to do any kind of exercise - I hate it haha) but I don't think I'd risk a full size dealy. My thighs hurt enough after the mini one.

As for the strange mark - I'd definitely say get it looked at. Better to be safe than sorry! Good luck with it x

Physio at stanmore told my DD 13 to do some stepping on a trampette using a metronome to keep up a slow steady pace (her shoulders spasm to the speed of music sometimes so trying to find a beat she is comfortable with in the hope it gives her more control). She bounced gently too to help her posture, which didn't hurt much.

It's interesting that the majority here seem to have been told not to trampoline. My physio said she didn't think trampolining in my teens had knackered my knees (even tho' that's when the problems with my knees started) :s

Ive been told by my physio that sitting down trampolining ie using my bottom to move the trampoline will improve core stability but jumping or standing up trampolining is a bad idea.
