the welfare reform bill has passed through the final hurdle and now just waits for royal assent
PIP will definately be replacing DLA.
I have attached a link to the BBC report for further reading.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-17204301Over the next few weeks I will try and collate the replies that we have and any others that come in to this thread. now that we know that PIP and the welfare changes are definately going to be happening it is really important we have our right to reply to the consultation which at the moment is still in second draft. There was mention that pain with walking will be taken into account but it is not clearly stated in the descriptors, it is these sorts of grey areas that need addressing. Overall the feeling is that whilst DLA leaned more to those with physical difficulties, PIP leans more towards mental health difficulties which were in the past not very well represented, however I feel that equal weight should be given to both elements and as more and more people are "testing" to see what their award will equate to it is emerging that the higher rate of mobility DLA will be down graded to standard rate in PIP unless they do take into consideration pain fatigue and consequences of reliably repeating an action in a safe and timely manner.
spartacus have now pulished their latest PIP documents, I haven't had a chance to read them through yet but will put up the link so that we can all access and share any comments or concerns.
