Pain medication suggestions

Postby sheppeyescapee » Fri Dec 30, 2011 12:12 am

I'm struggling to find effective pain killers that I can actually take. I'm on the maximum dosage of naproxen and high strength co-codamol. Tried tramadol and that made me dizzy, palpitations and other horrible side effects. My dr is stumped as to what we can try really. The naproxen and co-codamol is ok for the lesser pain but it does nothing for more acute episodes

Hi Sheppeyescapee
The next opiate up from codeine is dihydrocodeine I believe. Might be worth asking your GP for some for acute episodes. I'm a tramadol junkie meself, I fought through the 1st week of drowsiness and other side effects and only have to cope with the dreaded "sweats" now, but I consider it well worth it to have less pain. What works for me is a combination of Tramadol, Naproxen, Pregabalin and diazepam. It's taken me a LOOOOOOOOONG while to find the right combo and I hate being reliant on drugs to get through each day, but I couldn't live with the pain. Now I feel like I own my life again after being totally out of control for too long

Hello and help!

I've been trying to find the right kind of med for me, I've been through loads..

Solphadol- Only thing I've stuck with
Co-dihydrocodeine- not very effective
Tramadol- I had a "bad reaction" to
Naproxine- Rubbish

I'm also taking amitriptyline and using versitis patches. Is there anything better than solphadol as a back up to the other things I'm taking because I'm really having a tough time with regulating the pain, it's gone nuts for some reason. has any one been through the same list and found anything, because every time I try something new I got back to the solphadol. Thank you for reading :D

Naproxen didn't do anything for me so my gp put me on Celebrex and it seems to work because if I miss a dose I feel awful a couple of days later. I also take co-codamol when the pains moderate and tramadol for severe or intolerable pain, mostly on a daily basis.

[i] :) Hi there,
I was on Tramadol originaly as had issues over past 2 yrs but had to take prochloparazine with it due to constant sickness
dihydrocodeine, also codeine {mod edit - dosage removed, please read the site rules}
I am now on Lyrica (pre-gabalin) for Nerve issues and co-dydromol (feel like a pill junky)
Beta-blockers for fast pulse, 7yrs
Lanzoparole - Gastric problems 12yrs now but had IBS for 24yrs.
Personaly for me the Lyrica works, but i had to persist!! it is one of those things that you try meds and think after a wk or 2 either having side effects or feel not working but they do for me (feel they add to my lack of brain cells burning them away though) as i had been on Neurontin too and that just left me on the sofa and feeling ill unwell all the time.
I have to run my small business so i have to be on form driving all day on/off.

I was only Diagnosed with BHMS Jan 2012 but had it all my life!!! Neurologist annoyed not even been spotted through all the things i had i guess.
How are you and I am Cazzie xx :bye:
