I'm so fed up with my body!!

I took a good wack from my car door on weds evening which pushed my shoulder out. Its been x-rayed and is in place but it hurts, my elbow hurt and my hand keep getting pins and needles.

Have had to phone in sick today, as its horrid.

Never suffered with my shoulder before. Its normally my knees.

Help!

I had a massage last night at a physio place where they have knowledge of hypermobility...

A few hours after I started to get severe pain in my neck and shoulder when I tilt it to the left.

The pain is so awful, its right down my shoulder blade to my neck. The more I tilt me neck the more it hurts. It feels like a bone is getting stuck on my shoulder blade?! My shoulder has obviously been aggravated as its very unstable today, so much clunking, my mum can feel it from my shoulder blade.

I don't know what to do, or what's wrong our when it will go. I'm so upset, this is supposed to help me not cripple me :-(

Any ideas anyone? I feel like my shoulder is not in place properly, but I never know and have boone to ask.I can go and have physio tomorrow there but I'll have to pay for it and I can't afford to. My gp is brilliant but won't have a clue probably.

Your GP should be able to tell if it is not in place properly or you could try your local A&E!

Sending gentle hugs!

I had the first major problem with my shoulder last night I was pushing a drawing pin into the wall to hang a Christmas decoration and my left shoulder popped like it dislocated or something stuck for a while and popped back in. Is this what a subluxation is? I iced it last night and am still in considerable pain with it today. I can move the joint normally it is just really painful. I am trying to decide if it is even worth seeing a doctor as they will most likely not understand my condition and do very little anyway. Should I try and immobilize my arm with a sling? weighing up my options.

I asked the pain clinic physio if it was wise to sling my arm after a subluxation in my shoulder and he said whatever keeps me comfortable. It's often the only way I can stay comfortable after, as moving my arm feels like it's risking even more damage, or further subluxations.

I went to see my GP the day after I post in here and she's given me some ibuprofen gel to try as i'm not allowed to take NSAIDS on the drugs I'm on, so only a small amount to start with.

She said all the pain I was reporting was where the main ligaments are, surprise surprise! And it sounded like I had trapped a nerve too.

Oh the joys of having HEDS!

Hey everyone!

I'm sad to hear so many people are suffering with shoulder problems.
I have one shoulder that hangs lower than the other and I'm sure this is the reason why I have loads of huge muscle knots in both my shoulders. I went to the doctor and hospital about it, both telling me just to rest and it would get better, yet here I am 2 years later with the same problem.

I just wondered if anyone else has a similar problem with a dropped shoulder and what you can do to bring it back up again.

I hope you'll all have a great weekend :-)

My shoulders can drop out, but they usually go straight back into place. Did they say how long it might take for your shoulder to get better? I'd imagine it would take a lot longer than a few days.

EDIT: Sorry, I misread your post I thought you said two days, not two years! That's pretty alarming, I would get it checked again and maybe ask for a second opinion?

My shoulder is still 'misplaced' almost two years after dislocating it, (I had an X-ray to make sure it was back in), the hospital doc and GP said it was probably muscle tenderness which would go down - ummmm, nope! And occasionally it gets worse and more painful, although the shoulder still seems to be in..... ? :eh:

Does anyone else here have a problem holding babies or children? It's not so bad when they're small and don't move, but once they start to wriggle it's a nightmare because my shoulders start to lock up and get stuck and I can't move my arms the right way or manoeuvre very quickly...

It can be a difficult task to hold onto a wiggling child, the larger they get.

I don't think th weight of them help. I've found had to shout for help when I was in a day nursery.

I have the same problem my left shoulder is about an inch and half higher than my very sore right one. My deep tissue sports therapist friend reckons it's the good shoulder taking on the extra work and compensating for my weak right one. She did put everything nice and even again after one of her sadistic massages, but it just reverts back after a day or so. It's defo not dislocated or subluxated. but the muscles are very tight and pull the whole structure down, plus the other side had built up to compensate making me look very lopsided. I know my shoulder pain stems from the slipped discs and trapped nerves in my neck. I get really nasty spasms that pull my shoulder blades away from my back and sort of "wing" out and apart from heat the only thing I've found that helps it wearing a back posture brace to pull my shoulders back into proper position. very similar to THIS if nowt else it's worth a try
good luck
Sarah

my left shoulder hangs lower and i get tons of muscle tension and knots on the muscles between my left shoulder and neck (and down my shoulder blade etc). seen a sports physio and he said its cos of all the extra strain of trying to hold the shoulder vaguely in place. my other shoulder seems to escape the same amount of muscle knots etc but it still cramps up and gets tighter than it would in a person not suffering from hms. the knots drive me insane- they're not too sore compared to my shoulder tendonitis but they're soooo annoying! do little crackly starburts of pain.... grr

I saw the GP yesterday and he is referring me to have some physio on my left shoulder as it is still giving a lot of pain. There is a long waiting list could be up 12 weeks before I get my first session which by then it could be better. It hasnt been right since the fall on 3 December 2010 so I dont think it will be. One of the problems i have been having is that the shoulder will lock into place and then i cant move it. Also my collar bone comes out of place when it locks. I will let you know when i hear anything.

our injuries often take bloomin ages to heal so i probably will still be quite sore by then... althoiugh hopefully not as much as it is now  and even if it has stopped hurting, you may have a weakness in a few of the muscles that may predispose you to hiurt it badly again so the physio will be still be useful. in fact it may be better for the pain to be gone when you see them cos you'll be able to do their exercises straight away rather than having to wait for it to heal....

hope it's not too painful over the holidays
