8 out of 10 cats - 19.8.11

Postby Eloise » Fri Aug 19, 2011 9:56 pm

Anyone see the very near Connective tissue diagnosis on this?

They had Christian Jessen from embarrassing bodies on the program, and so they started on freaky body bits. Josh Widdicombe showed his concave chest and he said the technical name for it (I know this is a common mar fans thing). Then Russell Kane showed his super stretchy skin on his neck. Christian then asked him if he had hypermobile joints - such as bendy his elbows back - he said he could do weird tricks but everyone just started saying he was camp so they lost the medical stuff.

I saw this on catch up last night. Both hubby and I were disappointed that hypermobility got so close to being mentioned but wasn't.

otoh there are lots of bendy people about who manage fine, don't get any pain etc so I'm always a bit wary of highlighting them as I feel it can underplay the fact that HMS/EDS can get really bad - not that I want to scare anyone either!

I saw the episode last night and as soon as bending elbows back was mentioned, I was shouting 'EDS, HMS' while almost jumping on the sofa. I too was disappointed that the conversation went a different way...

I guess though since it is a comedy show if they continued to discuss it it would only be able to go on in a lighthearted joke type way,
