DLA (Accusation of benefit fraud)

Postby DeeNJai » Mon Jan 17, 2011 3:20 pm

Hi
I have just received a letter from Disability & Carers Service someone has reported me to DLA saying that i dont need DLA. I wish it was try I have to get the form back by 28th Jan so I only have a week to complete the form. the people I would normally use doesnt help people with benefits anymore as they have lost their funding. CAB has 3 or 4 week waiting time for appointments so that is also out. I struggle to fill in forms because of my severe dyslexia. It is a nightmare.

When was the letter dated? Maybe you could get an extension if the form was majorly delayed in the post? A week isn't long enough :wall:

most CAB centres have 2 or 3 days a weeks with drop-in services. Do you have a local library you can get to? Sometimes they will help you fill in forms at quiet times, if the staff are not too dragon like and it is just help with writing you need.

14 January. I have got someone coming from Carers' Centre on Monday to help me fill the form as I struggle with form because of my severe dyslexia. Also I cant write for long periods of time without being in a lot of pain. I am trying to finish off the wednesday so i can print off ready for monday. So far it is 6 pages long. I am trying to make sure that i have included in this information sheet. i was doing this so that i can get referral to HMS Clinic in Bath. I cant get a doctors appointment with my doctor until 31st January.

Hi Dee

If you need to see your Dr before sending the form off, then tell them you need an urgent appointment. If you are in a group surgery and you know what day your particular GP covers the emergency appointments, then ring up on that day and request an urgent appointment. If this fails, try asking to speak to your Dr. It may mean you waiting in until your Dr calls you back, but this may lead to an appointment, or the phone conservation may be enough. It is hard, but you need to be proactive to make sure you have everything you need to fill in the forms.

I hope all goes well

I am going to try and get an appointment with any of the doctors at the practice for the next couple of days. I have an appointment with my Community Continence Advisor tomorrow morning to discuss the problems that I am having with my bowel routine as I am not getting the results that I should be getting. Maggie is great I have had her for many years now. I have been under the Continence Clinic since 2003.

It went well she was here for nearly two hours. She thinks that I should be fine. I spoke to my doctor last Thursday to say that they will get something from DLA. Dee
PS: I give her the form that I have been working on to get a referral to hms clinic

Hi Dee

Make sure you take with you some of the written info about HMS/EDS-H, including anything you have written about yourself, so you can leave it with the medical bod.

I hope the medical goes well mate. Having met you, you really are supposed to be getting it, whoever told them that you don't is malicious and clearly don't know what they are talking about. Really hope this all gets sorted out so you can put it behind you. Good luck with Bath too, hope it goes better for you than it did for me.

I will be taking the Medical form from HMSA and also the 7 page document that I have done to explain why I need a referral to the clinic in Bath. I will also take the leaflet and the article that was posted here a few weeks ago. They will have a lot to read.

Good luck sweetie. I only wish that they would prosecute the nasty people who accused us of fraud, rather than making us prove our innocence and treating us as the guilty party.

Hi
I had a date for my medical it should be on Tuesday 22 March but I am going to cancel as I had a phone call from RNHRD about my appointment for the HMS Clinic and its on 29 March. They only got the referral last week so that is quick.

I went on the Benefit and Work site this morning and some people were saying that getting the DLA80 letter doesnt always mean that you have been reported for fraud but they have decided that you need a review but it still doesnt help us not to worry about as it human nature too. I will let you know how everything goes.
Dee
PS: I have an appointment with my doctor on Tuesday evening to talk to him about the DLA problem.
