ARTHRITIS GLOVES

Hmm, sounds like I got some bad advice! My type are like neoprene fingerless gloves. I googled your brand and mine look just like them. Maybe I'll start wearing mine to bed, although ironically I've found that knitting and crocheting is keeping my hands strong and they're not painful or subluxing right now.

can you wear these for doing dishes, doing wet cleaning?????

my gut feeling is no... but ot (v sweet and trying hard, but I have a feeling she's a newbie ot) said "well you can wash them, so it should be alright"... but wet gloves on arthritic hms fingers ???????
I actually wanted oval8 ring splints, but there seems to be a prob with getting these...

I guess I could try wearing marigolds over them (once I get them, they didnt have my size)- but already with just marigolds, never mind with something underneath, I get much clumsier...

I have them and they work wonders i love them and rely on them. you can wear them when doing the dishes as long as you wear rubber gloves over the top of them

I havne had any success with mine. They don't help with the pain and if i wear them at night my fingers go numb. However (!) they are great as wheelchair gloves becuase they have loads of grip. I find normal wheelchair gloves are too big for my little hands and look daft and fall off but the arthritis gloves are perfect. They are also great if you use walkign sticks or crutches. I find that wool gloves are useless wtih my sticks and make my hands hurt becuase i can't grip the sticks properly but these gloves are great. Also they are great under as a regular pair of gloves for keeping your hands warm.

I would suggest if you want them purely for pain then try to find a pair in a shop you can try on and see if they help or borrow a pair off a friend for a few days. They are expensive so if you want them just for pain relief then find they don't work very well like i did then its a lot of money to waste.

XSmall 15 - 17 cm
Measurements should be taken of the diameter around the hand at the knuckle joint (not including the thumb).

got these free from an OT (didnt measure hand), only wore them for a couple of days, but they were too small for me= squashing palm of hand=more hand pain but OT didnt want them back
of course I'll wash them before popping them in the post- pm me with your address if you could use them.


now for my Small pair... sometimes they are helpful, mostly when pain is worse due to cold, but nope for me they also never eliminated all pain, but didnt really expect that due to chronic 'nerve' pain...
sometimes I get v v v sweaty palms but the uncovered fingertips seem to get extra cold...
for fine motor stuff I also find them awkward, as hands/fingers get rather 'bulky'-
and if I try doing dishes with them on and marigolds over them-forget it... I turn into hyperclutz
tbh I mostly now only wear them for "rougher' garden work and driving

hi i had the gloves off gila and my hands were bad yesterday so i tried them and i was suprised that they work really well i wanted to use them for when i have to do typing and they are bad afterwards but obviously, as gila pointed out to me, it would be much better using them when i was actually typing so i'm going to try them when i get round to doing all the spreadsheet work i was suposed to do in the holidays

i amt yoping thgis with the globvess on my fingers barely poke out the ends so its kind of hard to hit the right keys with them on, i have taken them off now by the way. it also felt like my fingers where on bungee ropes, i think i will just use them afterwards because that works fine

as mentioned I cant use them for typing either, but know some peops can, maybe they are 'long fingered'

but v glad they help you at all!!!- every little thing is worth trying as loads of little stuff together can make quite a difference overall

Am getting some!

I don't know if it's the HMS or the spondyloarthropathy or whether it's a side effect from meds I'm on but my hands hurt so much when the temp drops. In the mornings I am in agony. At nights it begins to hurt & sometimes during the day it hurts.

I'm going to an arthritis info session tomorrow, hopefully will learn some stuff but need something for my incredibly painful hands right now .

Thanks so much for the recommendations, makes it easy to decide, though am thinking I might try a couple of different pairs for different uses.

I've had these gloves for about a month now, my hands were incredibly painful and the gloves have definitely helped. I find them really comfortable and warm, and they help stabilise my wobbly knuckles. I wouldn't be without them now - I 'forget' I'm wearing them, they're that comfortable.

I got a pair of the thermoskin gloves. I wouldn't call them exactly comfortable. They do hold my thumbs/hands in the 'right' position, more than anything else has managed to, but they *really* hurt. I wonder if it's just the muscles freaking out because they're in an odd position (for them), or if they're too small. they're the size the website says I should have, but they are tight (but then they're supposed to be...). They're not causing sublux/dislocations so I guess I should persevere? Did anyone else find the same thing?

I bought a pair of IMAK arthritis gloves. They're 95% cotton, 5% lycra. They're very comfy to sleep in & work very well. I wear them during the day as well when I need them. I've just bought 2 extra pairs so I can wash them & still have a pair to wear.

They're pretty basic but they provide a bit of compression & some extra warmth. Definitely helps. Just something different for people not fussed on the synthetic ones.
