Amber_m,
I just knit for any charity. I do crochet the edge of the blankets but it sometimes take ages.
Not seen bamboo handled crochet hooks.
Usually my local methodist church - there's always someone needing a blanket.
Think I've done one for shopmo. Did a machine knit one for the last HMSA weekend.
done a handknit one for this years weekend.
Done them for 'save the children' in the past.

Finarda, not really thought about changing hooks. I'll try and look for some.

Thanks both

I have to be careful and not do too much machine knitting at a time or it plays up the shoulders and neck.
Nick B I think had to give up machine knitting, so you'll need to be careful.
I would recommend that you try and borrow a machine first to see how you get on.
I've not done any for ages as we're still sorting out the extension.

Thanks Amber - everybody loves that full set :) By the way, the first name they had in mind for her was Amber - they changed their mind towards the end though :)

Woo, that is a cute bear and dress. How long did it take to make and do you think you will make more?

Hayley, I have seen a lot of these on Facebook and they are all lovely. Abbie will be a well dressed baby. :D

Wow, Hayley, these are really nice. I'm going to have to find you and Paw on Facebook so I can see more updates, LOL! I ignore baby patterns normally because they're usually so ugly but these have encouraged me to maybe look at some baby patterns now!

If you google 'free knotiing patterns' you can download some freebies.
I downloaded some baby patterns recently.

Much cheaper than buying and some are very nice.

Hi all! I just recently started to learn to crochet - and found myself really impressed by some of the video tutorials on You Tube etc. I'm currently doing some squares to make a workbag with ... by that I mean a bag to put my crochet in, not a bag to go to work with! My only problem is tensioning my yarn, it is really starting to cause problems with my ring and little fingers cramping up and limiting the blood flow. I've included pictures of how I'm holding my yarn (excuse the state of my desk!), could anyone suggest any alterations I could make to my technique?

2-pillow case. half way through only got one small and two big panels left to do
3- crochet case for my hooks and things.

Hey Amber
I finished the workbag, crocheted a hat and wrap for a party, a crochet hook case, and i'm working on a gilet/bodywarmer atm. That's nearly finished, and then I'm onto some smaller projects to give my hands a break.

I think i'm going to have to have a few projects on the go with different weights/ hook sizes so I can always work on something - I get so bored if I know I don't have anything to do! Saying that, I procrastinate if I know I do have something to do if it's getting tricky ... I can't win!

Ravelry.com has been my undoing really - I keep spotting so many nice projects that I'd like to try, and don't give a thought to how difficult they are, or if I have the wool, hooks, or skill to do them! One of the projects I have waiting is a really nice jumper, but it's worked seamlessly, and is rated as an expert pattern. That may stay on my to do list for a while till I work up the nerve to try it.
