Enjoy it leashy!

I've just been on wii fit and killed my hips on the super hula hoop - oops! I did set a top record though :wink2:

I'm thinking of getting a wii, but I'm not sure what exactly to get if you see what I mean. I thought I'd start with just the basic console, and get a wii fit later, but I was looking at additional controllers, and wii motion plus. One of the reviews for the motion plus seems to suggest it gives you more accuracy, but it does also 'enhance' the playing experience with sound and vibration. Is there anyone with a motion plus controller who can explain the vibration aspect a bit more? With having carpal tunnel I find I'm quite sensitive to vibration, and even had to be carefull when I picked out my electric toothbrush, so I don't want to spend money on an extra that might not be used much in the long run.

My partner bought us (supposedly me) a Wii Fit for Xmas and I've just started using it. My BMI and weight is perfect (puffs chest up with pride but not enough to dislocate ribs! :P ) but my centre of gravity is somewhere in next door's house I think!! My partner's balance, posture and centre of gravity are all perfect but today I actually managed to beat him on a score for a yoga exercise!! It wasn't even a bendy one either!! I found myself standing on the board saying "read it and weep Grandad a bendy beat you!!" I'm just working through the balance, agility and muscle exercises very, very slowly for now and so far no extra injuries. I didn't do well on the balance on one leg test however and fell off the board :shifty:

Hi all

I spent 5 minutes on a Wii a the weekend, colouring a picture on Peppa Pig so not exactly demanding, and I am still suffering for it! I had to hold my right hand still with my left hand to get the pointer under control, and my left houlder is now falling off. And the kids keep asking why i won't go on the Wii that my son had for Christmas

Hi folks

I've played WiiFit twice, once at a friends and once on my Mums console. It's great fun and I enjoyed the bowling immensely, maybe because it's easier, (for me), to concentrate on positioning. The tennis on the other hand, I played 4 games and stopped when my shoulder fell forward, paranoia has prevented me from ever touching the tennis game again... (My shoulder subluxes forwards rather than backwards for some reason...) My stepdad thought I was joking cause he couldn't see my face, Mum could so she defended me and then fussed, as Mum's do :D

I think though as long as you pace yourself the games should be fine, it's just taking into account your particular weaknesses - I can ignore extreme hand pain to play a game, but shoulders, hell no!!!

Have fun

I just got a Wii with Wii fit today and I'm really looking forward to using the balance and yoga games to help with my physio. I've spent most of the day making Miis for the whole family and making everyone do the body tests  I was pleasantly surprised that my Wii age is only 3 years more than my real age

Wii Fit

Postby DeeNJai » Sat Jun 18, 2011 9:51 am

Hi
I have been using Wii Fit for a while now. currently I am trying to do between 30 - 60 minutes per day. I am doing ok. Finding some of it hard especially the Yoga poses. Is anyone else using the Wii Fit to get fitter. I am also trying to get to the gym three times during the week. The weather this week hasn't helped at all as my power chair doesn't like the wet.

i've just got a wii and wii fit too and had the same problems with the tennis game that was mentioned above- my shoulders proper didnt like it and became much more unstable so i've decided to not play that one again! my whole body aches like heck today and i think it was because of those few minutes of tennis.

but today i've discovered that i can play ping pong, frisbee, golf and bowling quite easily so i'm rather happy. wish i'd had the money to buy one earlier but i had to save up for what feels like forever  havent set up the board yet (just played with the hand controller thingy) and will do that next week sometime. i played on my pals wii fit board in wales and i really struggled with it due to my problems standing at the moment but will no doubt find ways of adapting it to use my sticks to balance me   .

my only annoyance of the wii fit on my pals computer is the little mii that changes in size in relation to your BMI. my BMI is always very high as i have a lot of muscle and only have 2 stones of fat on me (so cant loose more than half to 3/4 of that and stay healthy, had this calliper fat test done by the dietician cos i was worried) but the wii said i'm morbidly obese and need to loose 4 stones! so my wii mii is hugely fat and i'm not! luckily i'm not in 'eating disorder' mode and actually dont mind that much but i tend to be overly fixated on my shape and weight and this really doesnt help! had an eating disorder in my teens and early adulthood and i've almost got over it now but seeing the tv telling me i need to loose so much weight was rather unpleasant. so when i set up my wii fit mii i may set my height to be taller than i actually am so it reflects my actual bmi (which indicates that i'm overweight but not anywhere near obese).

I got a wii at the start of summer and a few games.

I cant remember which one (there are three types) but one of the my fitness coach games just went on and on about calories and things all the time, So I only played that game once. (Isn't is supposed to be fun?)

I also have wii sports which I think is good, mind you I only use it for wii tennis.
I try to only do a very little at a time, you know what they say ''little and often''.
I can play tennis sitting down :)

and I got a wii fit board, I got it all off ebay.
some of it is too hard, like if i have to stand on one leg and do thigns I shake all over the screen thingy.

It is somewhat good that they split the things into 'mini games' but also can get boring doing the same mini games repeatedly.

Its also suggests that if you need support then hold on to something. I know some of the exercises are hard to do.

I know, but I feel like if i hold onto something then it isnt really an accurate measurment. thusly like cheating to me i guess. :shifty:

It's not cheating just a way of keeping yourself safe from injury.
