Me to - they always look dirty - even after a bath.

Some of it is dry skin - but mostly it is just purple skin!

Looks even worse if I try to self tan - - seems as though the skin there attracts the dye.

My son's joints look like that, especially his knees - the only difference being that they are also covered in white scars. I frequently have to scrub his knees, and have learnt that once I can see the scars I can give up because the rest just doesnt' come off, and now I know why!

My knees are slightly like that and my toes are on some joint but my fingers arnt like that and my elbows just have extra skin like the photo but not the darker skin.
I also have little white scars on my knees but not from surgery but guess they are little streach marks, about the length of my little finger along the sid of the knees.

 I so remember my mum's perma cries of "your knees are dirty"... "and make sure you scrub..."

winona- I'm actually kind of left out atm too...huh? :wink2: ... cause currently it's not so pronounced... maybe because of having had some sun all over over the summer... I think it's always more pronounced for me after winter... that's why I used to think it had something to do with tanning and that for some reason the prominent joint bits kept the tan longer than other bits...

did anyone actually come across a theory why this odd colouration thing happens?
sorry I couldnt/cant be bothered to traipse through the bravo site atm...

i couldn't find anything about it but this is just a thought, maybe it's to do with skin translucency so you can see through it more away from the joints, i can't really think of anything else.
by the way when i saw the picture i thought 'donna's hands are on the internet!'

I've got a funny coloured elbow? At one stage the one on the right looked bluish and has a dry skin
patch - probably from leaning on it all the time - although I try not to.

Shouldn't this be in Related Conditions? ;)

I have this too - my fingers look like the photo and I had no idea it wasn't normal. Knees and elbows not so much but you can see it if you're looking for it...
