Part of the issue is that it is only affecting some users, not all.

Kattykins - what browser are you using (including version) and are you still having logout issues? How long before it logs you out?

I am using Firefox 2.0.0.16 but I also have opera 9.5 if you want me to check that.

I am still getting timed out but it is after quite a while (at least 20 mins) - sorry I haven't timed it. I have to get to bed now or I will be half dead tomorrow but pm me if you want me to time firefox, opera and IE7 when I get home tomorrow - after about 5.30.

Mine seems to be working OK again (I'm using IE7 by the way). Either that or I'm typing or thinking faster than yesterday! :D

Hi all,

I have changed the time before you get logged out to 2 hours. This is for security reasons. You will only be logged out if you are completely inactive on the forum for 2 hours.

Retro, my issue is the other direction. I come and read things and close the browser without specifically logging out. I come back and it still shows me "new posts" that I replied to a couple days before. This is my own laptop where I am the only user.

So now I make sure to log out and clear all cookies before I go. Sometimes it STILL does that showing things up to 4 days ago as new posts. That is most likely to happen if I log in again within 24 hours of the last time I visited. It is not really a problem because if I read them again it is not a big deal. I just don't know why it is doing that. I usually use Firefox but I am trying Google Chrome browser.

Thanks!

Hi Paw,

Try ctrl + F5. Firefox doesn't automatically refresh each time you visit a page, click the back button etc.

I had same problem with google chrome so got rid and went back to good old firefox, when the bugs are ironed out of g/chrome am sure it will be great. Hope that helps. Am not sure if google chrome is still in that Beta stage of it all. But removing it definately helped. :bye:

always logged out?

Postby pattirudi23 » Sun Apr 05, 2009 7:56 pm

This is pretty minor, but I thought I'd ask anyway....!!

Everytime I log in, I tick the 'keep me logged in' button, but still when I log in the next time I have to log in again... even if it is the next day.

I don't do a disk clean every day or anything so it can't be that. Any ideas?

Hiya

No ideas, but it has been happening to me pretty regularly as well. Not every time, but I can't spot the pattern.
Retro, any ideas?

Me thinks the logging in automatically problem may have been overridden by browser "save password" features, I also think much of it is to do with differences between browsers, cookie settings will also have an effect.

From a security point of view it's never a good idea to tick the "log me in automatically" box ;) but I'm a geek so that's how my brain works

PS. It might also happen when I clear the temporary files at the forum's back end :shifty:
