Postby Retro » Mon Mar 17, 2008 8:42 pm

Hi all,

A very lovely man called John Hazell and his amazing 14 year old son Steve are going to cycle from John O'Groats to Lands End this summer especially for The HMSA :D

The full details are on the main site here with a link to sponsor them. Association Members can also request download of a sponsorship form from the members section of the main site, if any non-members would like to raise sponsorship for John and Steve, please email/PM me (Retro).

Thank you all!

I'm shocked that of 564 people that have viewed this post not one member of the HMSA has downloaded a sponsorship form or sponsored John and Steve. These two are willing to spend 2 weeks of their holidays riding 1000 miles in what will probably be pretty bad conditions all to raise money for us. I would of thought the least our members could do would be to support them by trying to get sponsorship from friends and family.
The HMSA isn't run on thin air or chocolate buttons you know!

Come on guys get downloading these forms and get everyone you know to sponsor them!

I'm struggling because I access the site from work and it doesn't like javascript. Can anyone send me a form in another way, by email maybe? Whenever I try to navigate the main site I get blocked by our restrictive settings.

Ok Guys - it's now only 9 short days until John and Steve head for the highlands. John, Steve, Penny (wife and mother) and myself have been working like mad to raise money first of all for their expenses as it's going to cost around £1000 just in accomodation and travel etc. We've managed that with help from local businesses, the Masonic lodge and general donations from their friends and family.
We've been pestering everyone they know to get sponsorship and are doing quite well with pledges - hopefully that will turn into real money when the ride is finished.
I must say I am a little dissapointed in the response we have had from members of the HMSA and the people that read these boards. I have only had 3 sponsorship forms requested, and only 1 donation in all this time from you, the members.
Please I urge you show some support for these two brave lads that are making all this effort to do this for us!

P.S - Can anyone make it to Lands End for the finishing line? It will be sometime in the morning of August 6th. It would be great if people from the HMSA were there to show their support and thanks. If you think you'll be able to make it please email me at membership@hypermobility.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Darn, I wish I'd found out about the JOGLE earlier - my family are all in John O'Groats - it's where I grew up! I probably could have convinced my Dad to go and wish them well before they left.

You wouldn't believe some of the crazy JOGLEs that people do...

I've made a donation. I didn't see a way to specify it was for this event but it was! I also didn't see a way to Gift Aid it.

Hi Naama,

Did you use the link on the JOGLE page or the paypal one at the top right of a page?

I just donated! From the main page you go to the link to the JOGLE, then to the sponsorship page, add your name etc then click the lower PayPal button and that was basically it. I sent them best wishes all the way from Canada :D
