Try drinking Fortifreshes from Boots or ask your GP for a script. there is also Forticremes that are like thick gloopy mooses, very nice as the kids at work tell me. We have to build up there weight. Also as short term resort you can also ask your GP for a power that you can mix into you food, either Maxijul or Procal, They provide extra calories. Maxijul can also be desolved into drinks and dont have any taste.
I feel like a bowl of Rice Cripsies!! I'm snap, crackling, popping everywhere!

Hi Immy,
Thanks for your advice. Yes, I have high metabolism, that's why eventho I do not feel like eating I still push myself to eat at least 3 meals a day. Or when I am 'fasting' i just dont eat lunch, but still do breakfast and 2 meals in the evening.. just to keep the weight.

I confess, I hate sport. I do pilates because otherwise my back aches, and cardio that I do is dancing 1 hour a week... plus running after the tram :) I walk as much as I can.

If you can help me with the maths of my daily in take I would love to have it. Plus what kind of protein drink do I need? I saw ppl selling whey, creatine and god knows what else. Those are expensive, and I dont know if they taste any good... so I keep putting it off of buying.

Thanks & Take care,
greige

I may have misunderstood what you're asking here but those are pretty personal questions on a public forum. If you're trying to give out personal advice to an individual it might be best to take that to pm, as with medications - what is appropriate for one person isn't neccesarily for another.

Also, as I've seen you do it a few times now and there are a lot of new people around who may become confused;
HMS = (Hypermobility Syndrome).
HMSA= (Hypermobility Syndrome Association, a charity working to raise awareness and improve treatment for patients).

kk well first never ever given out advise regarding medication so recheck, yeah i put an a on the end oops..lol

and its a forum about weight gain or loss, it cant be calculated without knowing someones activity level, in the mean time we have spoken in pm and ive given clear figures regarding caloric intake.

above the supplements mentioned ( not by me) i think are weight gain supplemnts, i dont advise anything which needs medical prescription

have a nice day :)

That's what I meant, Immy - I was (badly) trying to point out that calorie intake differs for everyone trying to put weight on, as does the kind of food they need to be eating - so specific advice meant for one person might not be any good for everyone else.

For example I've had a lot of success with eating large amounts of red meat (mmm... Steak!), but this would be no use at all to a vegetarian or with a cholesterol issue. :)

Numbers are pesky things, 1700 calories, 2000 calories, 2250, 2500 - it's all going to be relative depending on what kind of calories they are, height, weight, build and as you say activity levels, though in us bendybods those can be a bit screwy too, I know I burn off ludicrous amounts of energy doing very, very little!

oh i agree with you totally, its why the fomulae used by dietitians is still alittle out,

it takes me a while using calculations for a few things before you can work out their needs, even then its not acurate as people find dif things work for them

i can write out the fomulae i use, and who its referenced too

the one thing i will say as a general rule is becareful, nothign drastic, you dont want quick increases or decreases, as you can hurt yourself or lose muscle tissue in trying to lose weight.

btw if i seem defensive im sorry, xxx

Hi Jess haven't heard of fortifreshes they sound good I might get someone to look for those if they go to boots.

I have Skandishakes aswell on prescription you mix them with milk but in my case Lactofree milk I have vanilla and Strawberry they are yummy and mix like MaccyD's shakes.

Ok me not put on any weight as far as I know at the mo.

Everyone keep up the good work.

Sadly I've still not put weight on but I'm seeing a new consultant next week and then hopefully a dietitian depending on what he says.

For now I'm trying to eat everything I can get my hands on.

I am now able to wear a halter neck top without looking like an eight year old!

Crop tops may be out for this summer, though... I don't have a spare tyre, but there's indications of an inner tube round my middle. Steak, beer and cake all the way. :D

oops

I never looked at how that might come across.

I now have an image of us all eating people to try and get our weight up.

Cannibalism is not an option I'm afraid........... :think:
