very slow?

very slow?

is it just me? every time i log in it gets slower and slower :S . thats if i get that far. i keep getting server not responding, blah blah blah. its taking ages for the page i want to read to load, if im not timed out and get the server waffle again.
it doesnt seem to be anywhere else and iv done all me clean up jobby things. any ideas?

a very confused and bored of waiting , dori.

Sorry Dori, the server etc is up and running just the thing. If you have a wireless router you might want to try rebooting it :wink:

thanks nickb, i dont have another pc to try it on. my dads the nearest, 30 miles away :)

Are you wired thru a USB modem or ethernet to a Router? If it's a router then it's still a good idea to reboot.

If it's a USB modem, do you reboot your PC regularly or is it always on?

iv got ethernet running through a bt hub.

i put it on in the morning and switch off at bed time. so although its on for a good while its not on constantly.

not usually. it has been off recently though coz my boy built my desk for me and we had a shuffle about. all the connections seem ok. so maybe bt needs a kick up the pants. :think:

:lol: it might as well be. Sometimes just rebooting the router and resetting everything is enough and that's one of the first things that BT will get you to do...beleive me, I've spent hours on the phone to them trying to get Mum's sorted. I finally managed to talk her into moving to cable :D If you do have to phone the helpline just :pray: that you get the helpdesk up here and not the one in india :roll:

i had an indian help desk before and had to pretend i was deaf so they said everything loudly and clearly! couldnt understand a word being said. american/english with a thick indian accent :S . did boggle my poor norfolk brain.
anyhow.. seems to be behaving today, dont know if its something iv done or the fact theres been a bt man working on a big green box outside all morning :neutral:
