OMG!! My knees are very dark, keep trying to scrub them, bought some fade out cream but all that does is irritate my skin. I do moisturise with a body butter day & night. No difference though dread to think how bad they'd look if I didn't! GP says I must kneel a lot but I don't, in fact very careful not too as they're so noticeable. My elbows are a little marked & in summer when I catch the sun my knuckles, finger joints & toe joints darken. I have very pale skin everywhere else so it really shows. Any little mark anywhere causes dark scarring too which always makes it look much worse. My little toes if shoes rub can get a hard nub on them, a bit like a corn but not overly painful which I can then pull off in a lump leaving pink skin underneath.
How bizarre...Didn't connect that this could be related.

OMG, that's so bizarre.....I have had "dirty" looking kneecaps for as long as I can remember, and have had numerous well-meaning family members asking if I had washed my knees lately??
It so strange how I have always had HMS, but having only been diagnosed last year I am finding it fascinating how many things I just thought everyone had are actually linked to the HMS!!

My son commented on my elbow the other day. We were just going out, can't drive at the moment as had an op to sort my thumb, trapeziectomy & he was giving me a lift to see GP. He told me '"Mum you might want to wash that dirt off your arm before you see the doctor" Looked in the mirror & realised it was just the brown colour of my elbow!! Probably more prominent as I've had to rest the arm more on pillows to help with the thumb pain & healing.
