Everyone Active Gyms/Sports Centres

Postby shen » Fri Jul 20, 2012 5:14 pm

Hi Guys,

Just thought i'd update you about something I learned today. I know there are quite a number of these Everyone Active sports centers around the country.

Looking at the monthly subscriptions they have I went into the Plymouth one to ask and was told that because I have a disability you get a monthly subscription that allows you access to all the facilities, Swimming Pool, Gym, Sauna, and all classes for £23.40. All you need is to provide some proof of your disability i.e. DLA letter. I'll get some more information when I sign up if you can do it on a consultants letter or something. If you want to pay for the year in advance is works out even cheaper at £234 because you get 2 months free, so essentially only pay for 10 months. Also really suitable for us is that you can freeze your subscription if for example you are away for a month, or are in a really bad period/sick etc. Thats £5 a month which isn't too bad. You can also use it at any of their centers.

On their website they do not advertise this discount. I do not know why, but the nearest one to it is £25 a month concessionary fee, that provides access only to the swimming pool/sauna. Its a discount you have to ask for when you subscribe, and for that you have to do in person rather than online. I think its kind of odd that they don't advertise it because some people might be put off by the fact that there is no provision for disabled people or such.

I know quite a few of us do things like Pilates which is included in the subscription as well as access to everything else. I swim 3x a week and would save £10 a month on that alone! With Gym access and free classes I thought it was a pretty decent discount!

Just thought i'd let everyone know incase they've been considering something like this but found it too expensive and such!

Even if you're not in the areas listed, the local council normally offer something similar. My sis goes to the sauna and swim and a few different classes. Always worth checking out. Don't forget that if in receipt of certain benefits like DLA a lot of swimming pools etc will normally admit a carer free. Always worth asking :)
