subluxing wrist bone

Postby Daeinera » Wed Mar 11, 2009 2:10 am

back in july my left wrist first started subluxing, (the minor injuries guy told me after I went to see them a week after it started... I've had too many wasted journeys down the minors to waste time until my hand therapist (physio) told me to go) I had my appointment with the hand specialist today who agrees something is not right and has put me on the list for surgery to explore and find out whats going on.

My wrists hurt when I do too much, but they are not my worst joints at all.

A couple of times recently I have felt a little bone quite out of place in the left wrist. I pushed on it, heard a crunch and it moved back in place..... I hope this is not the start of chronic wrist problems.

Good luck when you see the Consultant. I hope they can get you fixed up.

thank you, i am hoping they will be able to fix this, as the other wrist has a subluxed lunate, that doesn't want to go back in properly but as its nearly in when my wrist is straight it fools the drs, i know that is out because i used to be able to put it back, they wont look at that one, just splint it when it causes pain. I am a guitarist so I hope they fix one of them!!!!! i can only play a couple of songs a day because if i do more, my left hand hurts to grip anything the next day, I dont want to give it up

I am having increasing problems with mine. It used to be just my lunate, which I'd pop back in repeatedly. On my right hand there is now another one of those small bones popping out, but I don't know which one it is. Causes me a lot of problems, but I don't have any good ideas about what to do.

sorry about delay in update, i've been very busy.

So the injury was July last year, it took until may to see a specialist about it, he did an arthroscopy on the 20th of May to see whats going on. My post-op appt was booked, but I had no notice to sort out hospital transport, and I informed them I couldn't make it, a phone appt was arranged.... that is until the system discharged me for 'missing an appt' even though my rheumatologist told them i couldn't make it. I have now been penciled in on paper (as the system wont let me back in!) for tomorrow. I don't know what will happen regarding if they found something and can fix it how are they going to if I've been discharged. Oh well I guess I'll find out tomorrow.
The other problem I have been having since doing the injury, is that my hands are too long for standard splints... They haven't made me one that'll fit, and I am pretty much constantly in some level of pain where the splint digs in between the frist finger and thumb, its red and angry looking all the time, and sometimes when the splint has slipped in the night, I wake up from the pressure with swollen fingers and pain. My hand therapist (who i was seeing about finger splints) talked about it but never did anything, i am now discharged from there, hopefully the 'drop-in' physio I'm seeing later can do more than supply yet another spint that wont fit right.
I am seriously considering putting in a complaint about the whole situation as firstly it shouldnt take 10 months to get to see a specialist!!! I am going to wait until i hear what they've found before making any desicions. Any advice would be welcome, as I'm not sure of the procedures on waiting time etc
