I am SO happy that it is working as well for other people as it is for me!!!
For me it was a last resort before i would have to have my subtella fused, or end up permanently in a wheelchair. They have saved me so much!!!

Nat and loosebones have also just got these for themselves... not sure how loosebones is getting on but Nat has found them a great help too!!!

I can not recommend these highly enough!!!

Take care, lots of love and gentle hugs,
Adele xXx <><

edited to add... WOO i have started a trend!!!!!!! thats a first

I have one for my right ankle as Adele has said. It has made such a difference. As soon as I put it on the podiatrist I see agreed to make an appointment for my left ankle to be done. Think its in two weeks :D

At which point do we confess that the 3 of us all see the same podiatrist? :shh:

actually i don't see the podiatrist :P
He told me that my ankles were far too severe for him to treat, so i was transfered to the orthopedic surgeon!!! But i did used to see him and he has seen me since when my guy showed my ankles off to him! LOL

I love the fact that my ankles are famous (several people i have seen have all used them in studies and conferences and things)
small things please small minds.

I had the same problem Adele - I was referred to podiatry, but they took one look at my ankles/feet and said I was oustside of the scope of their treatment and I was referred back to the surgeon.

My ankles are going to be famous too - my orthotic technician's student took loads of photos and they both seemed to be really impressed with the Richie brace. The student was told to make the most of taking the photos as she was unlikely to see the brace again. I guess they must be quite expensive? I remember saying that it was fun being an ankle model when the photos were being taken.

Next time I see the orthotist (I am taking in a pair of shoes to have a new flayed sole fitted on Jan 29th), I may ask if I can have on for my left ankle too. It is not as bad as the right one, but I do still go over on it quite a bit.

Tell you what, when we have all got out Richie braces, we should take photos of our ankles and submit them anonymously so we can do a "Guess the ankle" competition - hee, hee.

Hi Guys,

One question I have for those of you with the Richie brace - do you have problems with the underneath (orthotic bit) flapping unless you have either slippers or shoes on. If I try to use the brace without any footwear, I risk tripping up on the insole. It is almost as though it could do with a strap that goes across the foot to hold the insole in place. Taht is the only negative point I have about the Richie Brace - in all over respects I think it is brilliant.

I am in the process of trying to find a new pair of flat lace up ankle boots that will allow room for the brace, as my old boots need replacing (one of the eyelets has split). I really need to get the new boots before my orthotics appointment on Jan 29th as there is no point getting them to add a flayed sole to the old boots. I always go for one size larger than my actual shoe size now to allow room for the brace.

Some urgent info needed heer if anyone has it. I saw the orthotics people today and they knew about EDs/HMS and were very willing to help. I showed them the web info of the Ritchie ankle support and the guy is very keen to get me one - however they are not in his catologues and he does not know who the UK dealer is. If anyone knows please let me know as all he needs is this info nd he is willing to order them for me.

the appointment went brilliantly, they knew about proprioception, co-ordination and balance problems as well as all the sKin issues - they aer offering to basically do what I need!!!!!!

Please please if anyone has the info let me know, or point me to who does know.

You are welcome Gremlin - I was glad I could help.

I have found the Richie brace to be the best I have ever had in regards to supporting my ankle. I hope you find it as good as well.
