finally someone belives me

Postby angel240283 » Sat Jul 19, 2008 11:17 am

well i went to the rhumatologist on wed and when me and my partner walked in we both thought oh dear here we go, she seemed like she wasnt going to take me seriously. she was very straight faced and seemd like she was thinking "you waisting my time"
but no. after poking, prodding, twisting, bending, asking questions and actually listening to what i had to say about what i had found out of here and of other places on the net. she actually said
"well yes yo u do have a degree of hypermobility and i cant say for sure untill the blood results come back but i do agree that i think you have fibromyalgia"

OMG finally someone believes that im not jus being lazy when i go bac to bed in the day
finally someone who believs that im in pain
finally someone who can help me.

now i just gotta get my mum to understand.

and now i have some grounds to get my daughtr looked at too.
my gp said it was best to wait till i had a diagnosis then we have more to base my concerns on and not just what looked like a bunch of random things. shes 20 months and exactly how i was at her age. clumsy, still waddling when walking, high arches, uneven groin creeses, very bendy. so now we can start to get her sorted too.

anyway just thought id share with people who understand
thanks for listening. xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hi Angel :D

Its such a relief isn't it? I remember when I was diagnosed, walking out of the hospital, with a smile on my face!

Did she diagnose you with HMS too? Fibromyalgia is a separate condition, which a lot of peeps who have HMS/EDS have as well as their HMS/EDS.

Hope you have a good weekend hun :D

Hi Angel,
Glad you got a result. I have EDS and fibro too. Give your mum loads of literature to read and let her see a copy of the report from the consultant. Sure she will come round,

Angel, I'm so glad the doc believed in you. :) Gongrats on your dx!

I have met insensitive docs, mainly GPs and physiatrists. Everything changed, when I went to consult a certain physiatrist, who asked me a few questions and examined me. He said laconic "well, you're quite bendy, aren't you". He didn't seem to impugn my pains.

After all, he gave me a notepad and wrote down "Ehlers-Danlos UK Support Group". I asked, if he thought I have EDS. He said he's supposing so. I got my epicirisis and read the dx: Q 79.6 Ehlers-Danlos 2/3.
