sublux or clunk?

when i have been sitting for a long time in one position, i have to stop, sit up and move my spine from side to side (i cant really describe, but keeping my hips and shoulders pretty well paralel, moving just the middle bit) and i alwasy get up to 3 big clunks which hurt and then the pain will slowly subside...

should i be calling this a sublux when i speak to my doctor, or is it just a clunk? any ideas?

Possibly a crack?? When I get tension in my back that's what I do to relieve it otherwise I feel like I have been doing bench presses.

My shoulders come out of place all the time, when I tense too much or move in the wrong way or relax too much. They usually pop straight back in (sometimes they fall straight back out again...) I always thought it was dislocating, but it's probably only subluxing.
Diagnosed with hypermobile shoulders, hips and hands in August 2011. Done a good few months of physiotherapy sessions and it was definitely worth all the effort! :3

A weird thing happened with my elbow earlier this week. I was making cupcakes with my PA and my son, I was beating the cake mixture but my elbow was hurting so I stopped and tried to stretch it out but it was locked at 90 degrees and i couldn't move it. I had to push it away with my other hand to make it move, it didn't take much effort but there was a loud cracking sound and i felt something move inside then it was ok again. Has anyone had anything like that happen to them?

Help?

I was just lying on my side on the sofa and tried to roll further forwards i believe, so moved my top leg over and my god the worst pain in the world shot through my pubic and hip. i screamed in pain, which is unusual for me, and it made me feel sick.

i can walk on it thankfully, but i've got residual pain left, and i can't move my leg inwardly as the pain in my groin is horrific.

i'm leaning towards this being a subluxation, but of my hip? pubic bone?

i'm scared to go to sleep as i know this often happens in my sleep - which also leads me towards hip sublux.

Owww :(

thanks guys.

Could be you have twisted your pelvis, I often manage to do this, especially when lying on side as there is a lot of pressure going through the joints! Have you got a pelvis belt?? I find mine a life saver and will use it round my hips sometimes in bed too to stop them rolling off in the middle of the night as I can only sleep on my back due to my pesky pelvis! Hugs and hope it feels better soon!! x x

My hips clunk if I lean to far to one side, and then my leg buckles.

In constant fear of taking a tumble if I walk down narrow stairs where you have to take it sideways, or walking down steep hills where the footholds are small.

Is this normal?

Please help!

Out of interest, do you have difficulty raising your legs? Which is more painful: going up, or down, stairs?

I suspect it's your pubic bone. This problem started for me during pregnancy, I had SPD (which can affect anyone) but unlike most people I've had a remaining instability and what you describe sounds familiar. If you also feel a bit bruised around the pubic area I'd say that would pretty much confirm it for me.

Edit to say, the reason I asked about stairs was that for most problems I have, e.g. knee/hip etc. I find going downstairs harder, but with the SPD and pubic bone problems it's going up that's the problem.

I had severe SPD also, it blinking hurts!

i'm fine walking up and down stairs today, it just hurts in my groin/hip whenever i move my leg inwardly.

Thank goodness! A thread where everyone experiences the same thing I do.

Every day I feel things move and shift and pull. And can never get trult comfy. I have niggling aches on off all the time every day and crack really loudly from nearly all my joints (even my back cracks).

Despite this the physio and the doctor don't think things move but I feel joints shift around a bit all the time. I dont think I ever dislocated but I seem to sublux lots.
Especially in my wrists, they feel twisted to start with then they slip out at one side and feel like they are stuck out of place.......so I have to move my wrist to help it back.
I have had to get a light support because of this problem and it really helps.

Just fighting for official diagnosis now......but i know for definite what I have after all these years of problems.

I get popping, snapping, cracking in almost all of my joints, but the only ones to sublux are my shoulders, wrists, hips and knees. Right now, the hips are the worst. On Friday I kept having these extremely painful "snaps" in my right hip, low on the front, almost at the groin. It would hurt for a few minutes and then fade away. It always happened when I was walking. Tonight my left hip when crazy with pain. It wasn't too bad standing or walking, but sitting or lying down is awful. I took and couple of Tramacets, applied some Voltaren gel and put the heating pad on it. It's a little better now, after 3.5 hours. I somehow doubt I'll be sleeping much tonight.

Cheers,
Imaigne
