aww sounds terrible :( hope she sees the light soon :)

it still feels very weak and fragile but i guess ive gotta give it time. im walking around on it very gingerly but i can feel that 1 small knock and il be on the floor crying lol.
they gave me an ankle splint but its giving little support as the movement in the ankle is felt when i lift my foot off the floor, if i sit on a chair and rock my leg back and forth i can feel the ankle moving apart from the leg (best description i can think of). surgeon appt is in about 3 weeks. im meant to be having physio but they didnt refer me when i left, i guess due to the tendon movement.

Yes Louise, it is worth noting that surgeons in general tend to come up with surgical options and nothing else. How else are they going to keep themselves in employment? I don't know what else might be possible in your case but it may well be worth getting a second opinion from someone other than a surgeon if surgery doesn't appeal.

oww louise... and I'm impressed you're able to laugh at this!

re "im meant to be having physio but they didnt refer me when i left, i guess due to the tendon movement." hmmm I'd maybe double check, ring them and ask... as who knows they might have just forgotten to do the referral ????
and I think I'd try to get a second opinion re further op...

mazza- get well's to your daughter too!!

Louise that's similar to what my daughter says she think she can feel. Her's feels not bad when her foot is on the ground, or if she's in bed, at a natural position. It's when the foot is unsupported she feels it weird. She just doesn't think it feels right despite what the xrays are saying. She's off to the physio next week for the patella alta thingy (if it's that) so will mention the right ankle and the rest of the joints to the physio then.

i asked about surgeouns because when i was in the surgical assesment ward they wernt considering surgery so i was checking if being referred to a surgeon is for surgery or same as an assesment ward.

ive got weird things happening at the mo. it wasnt too bad in the day if i was carefull but at night is murder, painkilers i have wont touch it. also i now cant put pressure on my foot because you know where the soft padding is on the underside of the foot, under the toes... when if i stand on that i get pins and needles but not the sort if your leg goes dead, its like eleccy shock pins and needles. im not sure if i should just wait for the referal or go to the docs

I would contact the fracture clinic about that again. They told my daughter if there were any further problems related to it to call them back. They may even be able to give you advice or tell you to come back or visit the GP.

saw the surgeon today, want to make a groove in my ankle bone deeper, shorten and repair the peroneal tendon but ive also ripped numerous ligaments so they are going to put me to sleep, do stress testing alongside xrays and then straight down the theatre to repair me. getting there

No surgery for the ankle. Have to give braces a go for 3-4 months. Then he's going to do a lateral release in the knee.... he doesn't think that will work. Then full knee reconstruction. Eek. TBH the surgeon we seen was a complete p**t, and daughter doesn't want him operating on her, so we're hoping she can get by with the braces. Still getting pain in that ankle though :wall:

Dunno though Louise. My mam was a nurse, mainly in theatre, and she said, all the best surgeons are arrogant ****ers. So every chance he could be a good surgeon. When we spoke to her GP about him, it was "Ahhh typical surgeon!!"

Good luck with the surgery
