Wow, you have created some wonderful bits of jewellry and I love the photos too (particurlly the close up of the eye and the 1st flower covered in ice/frost).

I wish I could be as creative as that.

Best wishes,

Sue.

I reckon everyone can do it Sue..... I still have no idea about my camera (bought it December just gonee, its some sort of canon powershot), I do have a thing about eyes, I have taken about a hundred photos of my eyes and only got a couple of good ones lol........ The daisy, well, it was the only frost we had in december (I thinnk it was December, maybe November, I can't remember nowt these days), anyhoo, some of it was thawed, alot of flowers were still out and I just had to get a shot lol....... What I didn't realise, was that whilst I was so engrossed in the whole photography thing, DD 1 beat up DD2, nicked her boots and left DD2 wandering round in bare feet in the frost... Poor mite).

Hey hey,

Fi - Thanks honey! What a lot of choice! Should have thought of that!

I used to have a pink batwing top too! And a pastel blue jump suit, a pink ra-ra skirt ... :D

Tireesix, love the jewellery! I definitely think you could sell it online. Love your photos too, that camera of yours has a fab macro facility! Did you use a tripod or beanbag or anything? They look lovely and sharp for hand-held!

Best wishes,
S

Oooh - I'm assuming the IS is for Image Stabilisation? Good - isn't it?! I've got a Canon camera too and it has image stabilisation - it deals with my wobbliness ever so well! Though I normally use a tripod when I get up close as even a slight wobble can spoil the picture, it's so much more noticable when I take a macro pic.

Sorry to go backwards a bit from the current chat, but....

I used to knit-my mum taught herself to knit left handed (she's a right-hander) so she could teach me. Unfortunately my main problems are now my wrists and neck so I've had to give up, I can't hold the weight anymore

I have exactly the same problem nick, then I discovered knitting socks. You can get some just crazy multi-coloured self-striping wool these days and they're really light to work on.

I found them a bit fiddly to start with, but now my thumb sublux has got worse (ironically improving the function of it), I'm fine. Should be relatively easy on your wrists, as you don't need to make such big movements with the needles as when you're knitting a jumper.

Plus there's the added bonus of having short projects, so you can have a finished pair of socks faster than a jumper and not necessarily have to abandon the work for weeks at a time if you hit a bad patch.

OOh now theres an idea-and i do love stripey socks (blame adele)

How many needles do you knit them on please? or do you use a circular one? I'm itching to get started now!

I must start the knitted wire jewellery kit my mum gave me for xmas too

Hi nick. I've knitted socks using both the round needles and 4&5 of the short double-pointed needles. Both are bit fiddly to start with, but are fine once you get into your stride.

There are some fab online wool shops these days and eBay usually has a good selection of auctions and wool shops if you use it.

Edited to add: I've just found a great, free (non commercial) sock pattern online. Fully illstrated with photos every step of the way.

Hi Nick, d'you happen to know where your Mum got the wire knitting kit from? I've had a couple of goes at it but think I need a little instruction as was trying to knit exactly the same way you would with yarn.
Knitting hats is another good, short, light project (even lighter with circular needle). Scarves are good at the mo to as there are so many lovely self patterning/fluffy yarns to choose from. Don't be put off by the fluffy yarns, they're not difficult to knit with.

Think I mentioned in another crafty thread about polymer clay(good for hand strengthing according to my Physio). Sculpey 3 is the softest and easiest to use (imo) and if you have the patience/strength/time/willing volunteer you can get some lovely jewellery pieces by polishing with wet/dry paper.

Tiresix, your jewellery is lovely and inspirational. I've been trying to get the hang of wire work but find it hard going on the hands using 8mm wire.
What gauge/mm wire do you use?
