They are great!! I love your figurines! I rarely get chance to do full sized cakes since i moved. I really miss it.

If you want any of the recipes for the cupcakes i've shown, PM me and i'll send them over.

Over the weekend I made carrot and raisin cupcakes with vanilla buttercream. Most recipes use oil, but i've found that they taste much lighter if you use melted butter instead (surprisingly it has less calories even!)

Carrot Cupcakes

I also made some chocolate bars for OH too.

Chocolate!
They are 75% chocolate with Ginger
and 75% chocolate with chili and lime.

Have just finished a bunch of cupcakes for a friends 60th wedding anniversary. I made all the toppers, which were a pain! but i think they turned out quite nicely.

Diamond Anniversary Cupcakes

They are vanilla cupcakes with white chocolate liqueur buttercream.

You must all have the patience of saints. The cakes look wonderful, don't know how I missed this thread. Shen would you mind sharing your recipe for the Gluten free cakes. Always feel terrible when my friend comes over and have nothing to offer her. This would be great :D

Finished another cake today. This one was really short notice, only got told on monday that she needed it for friday. It's a good friend, otherwise I probably would have said no.

Retirement Cake

It didn't turn out too bad considering I made up the design entirely as I went along. I rarely make cakes for men so it was a bit of a challenge!

Thanks hun! Hubby's Nan once bought me a lemon drizzle loaf cake for my birthday, that's the most I have ever had. Going to do something very pink and girly I think - and lots of chocolate, diet will be off for that day!!

Been at it again!

2 Cakes this time.

One was a 70th Birthday Cake for a friend, it was in the middle of writing my thesis so it was very quick and I used the paper flowers instead of making them:

70th Cake 1
70th Cake

The other was a goodbye cake for someone who was leaving her job.
This time i'd finished my thesis and could try my hand at sugar flowers again, i retried the roses and attempted carnations for the first time and using the tint powders (can i just say they are d**n messy!)

How did your birthday cake go superstottie?? (if you've had it yet)

Wow - those flowers are fab!!!

I didn't make my cake in the end - was having a bad week so never got round to it!! I have made a few others since, will have to find pictures and post them up, when I am a bit more with it and can remember how to do it!!

Nearly time to start on Christmas.............

Woohoo - had a moment of intelligence and remembered how to do it - and more importantly, the passwords!! So here are some links to the latest cakes

Cake Album

The first ones are of the 'Shaun the Sheep' cake that I made for my landlady's son - he was over the moon with it - and thankfully so was his mum!! The next one was for a friend I used to work with at a bakery - who for some reason wanted me to make her a cake rather than the bakery she still works at?? The picture doesn't show it very well, but it says 'Angelic choirboy' on the photo at the top. It was the first time I had used edible printing on my cakes, and I think it worked rather well.

I've been having fun again too

I've also just got a fantasy cake decorating book that has some amazing (and simple) cakes to make, so I fear my friends may be getting copious amounts of cake flung in their direction pretty soon!

I really wanted to make the enchanted castle, wizard and dragon castle cakes from the book

Really enjoyed reading this thread. I've just finished making some rockyroad and a three ginger loaf cake with ginger butter cream for my hubbies amateur dramatics club, tomorrow I'll whip up some vanilla cupcakes and top them with some pink buttercream that's in the fridge and he'll take them to his rehearsal tomorrow night. Not as fancy as some of the pics on here but it was fun.
I made my mother-in-law some six ginger cupcakes for our early mother's day celebrations and placed them in a lovely silver cupcake box. She loved them :D
I really enjoy baking and find that (on a good day) working with fondant actually helps my hands. I do have to use an electric mixer though and my wrist splints, but I don't mind as it means that I can do something that I love.

I've been at it again - made my hubby a Batman Birthday Cake (He's comic book mad) It had four layers of sponge inside including retro batman-inspired yellow and blue layers! I then covered it in vanilla butter cream and made call outs and a batman sign from sugarpaste. Thankfully it went down really well. :D So much so that my 12 year old little bro told me he was 'well jel' and asked for one for his birthday next January! Today I am making some whoopie pies and cupcakes for my parent's 30th wedding anniversary. Which means I best get off the laptop and get going :bye:
