Good job! I'm sure it will be well loved. Have you started planning the next one yet? Crochet is addictive - I had an episode of claw hands earlier this week and was pretty soon driven to distraction as I couldn't do a thing! I made some toddler nap blankets a little while back but forgot to take pics before they went to the twin boys...

Nothing I'm making at the moment is very bright (greys don't photograph so well), but I'm about to cast on a bright pink washcloth for Mum which will be made out of this stuff I picked up in Devon last month. The colours are a bit brighter IRL and remind me of some little seahorses I saw on television the other night.

I'm also working on some white lace later this week which will show up nicely in pics so I'll have something to show off then. :)

it makes my fingers claw up too, so i stop every few mins and stretch them, and use a big fat hook. and i've learned that you dont have to hold the yarn and hook tightly so i grip it just tight enough to hold it and no more- thats really helped my stamina, means i dont need to stretch quite as often :)

at the moment i'm just knitting myself a backwarmer out of old wool as i struggle to warm up my back properly at badminton and end up pulling muscles and twinging ligaments and tendons.... which i wanna avoid in the future! badminton in a wheelchair involves more twisting movements than it doses when played on foot so the warm up exercise we do just miss certain muscles a tad. used a backwarmer in the circus and when i was a gymnast, its basically just a knitted tube thats worn over the belly and it keeps the back warm- this is the 1st time i've made one, my last was shop bought but its totally died now. that was just basic stockinette stitch and as they cost a small fortune to buy (as they're a specialised purchase only available in dance shops) i'm making my own! will post a photo once it's finished

then i'm gonna make myself a blanket as i still have some of that fluffy yarn left and mum gave me tons of green yarn that a pal gave her!

I just learned to crochet  I'd wanted to knit for ages but it wrecked my wrists, but crochet seems to be fine (with regular rests and chunky hooks!). Hooray! Maybe I'll have something pretty to post on here soon!

Soft handled hooks are amazing, allows you tiny hooks without the pain of over gripping, you should only ever have a loose hold on the hook.

Wow there are some really talented people here !!! Very inspiring.

I've been a crafter for as long as I can remember. Mostly sewing, painting ( on anything !!), card making & scrapbooking. Used to cross stitch but haven't for a while as fingers get too sore. Recently I made play food out of felt for my 2 year old neice and also a knotted fleece blanket for my great -great nephew when he was born. The blanket took ages as knotting is also bit painful on the hands but I persevered and was really pleased with myself when I finished.
I'm currently working on a scrapbook memory album for my God daughter's 18th birthday after a break from scrapbooking. This one is even more special given that her Mum is fighting Breast cancer at the moment - makes you think

I think I am now ready to re embrace crafting as I have found it hard to motivate myself lately
Thanks :bday:

Just thought I would share on the benefit of craft stuff and how it is improving things for me. I was doing a lot of tapestry and cross stitch as well as weaving but can't do those anymore but the weaving I am finding is helping my proprioreception and also helping to strengthen the arm muscles a bit.

I've just picked up knitting needles for the first time in about 25 years. I've been off work for 3 months and was going stir crazy.

Going to try to get into painting again, after many years. Because of my hand issues I had all but given up any hope of ever being able to paint, but my counsellor has told me how important it is to express all my creative emotions and that I will find a way to work around my hand problems (lol, she suggested that even if it was only finger painting, at least it would be a start! ) So I've got some brushes and I have acrylics on the way.... Truth be told, I can't wait. Although I am a little scared that the perfectionist in me won't be happy with whatever my busted hands let me achieve, but my counsellor says I mustn't think that way, I should be proud of what I WAS able to achieve with busted hands, rather than be negative... I suppose that's true enough.

I look forwared to seeing some your painting. any art or craft I can do I keep up as it helps my mind focussed on something positive and is superb for expression.

My latest work here - a pattern of my own creating with a synbolic break at the bottom right of every square to symbolise the broken links in me due to EDS/HMS. they are book covers.
