ANYBODY READ THIS WEEKS BMJ? THERE IS AN ARTICLE ON HMS!!!

Hi when I took daughter to GP this week, my GP said that she wass pleased that HMS/HEDS was getting better known and that there was an article in the BMJ this week, written by a psychiatrist who has just been diagnosed herself.

Has anyone else read it? I would love to know what it was like.

I haven't, and the uni library don't have an up-to-date subscription to BMJ, so I'm not sure if I can get hold of it.

Good that there's an article about HMS in a well-known and 'prestigous' journal!

I would be very interested to read the article. Does anyone know where you can buy the magazine from? Is it stocked in places like WH Smith for example.

No its not usually available in the stores. It might be available in the hospital libraries, so if there are any students out there'helllooooo' but obviously please do not break copyright

Might ask BMJ direct to take pity on us for being a charity and forward article so I can paraphrase! They will say no!!!

Hi Cara you can buy a pay per view access to articles via bmj online some are not too much either. Can't find any reference to above mentioned though at the minute probably me though as bit of brain fug atm!! Strict copyright does apply though with all their stuff. Anyone very good mates with their gp

Yeah, i can't find it on the BMJ website at the minute either But of course the article title may be something rather unexpected, so I may be skimming straight over it.

that sounds v interesting indeed... particularly as it's by a psychiatrist... ...
(ooops that looks kinda 'mean'... but for all who've had the "all in your head/psychosomatic"- particularly from psych bods...this is quite a 'bonus')

if anyone finds it... would a scan and mass pm be poss ?

I had a quick search of google news and haven't come across anything... Not sure if the journals publish their stuff on news feeds though??

I wonder if it could be the analysis entitled Patient and public involvement in chronic illness: beyond the expert patient

In fact, I expect it is at it does say in the abstract that it is based on 'personal reflections' or something.

I got my knowledge information services at work to hunt for this article and they couldn't find it. But the lady did find this thread and site and then started asking me all about my condition

I couldnt find it either. Am seeing Gp next week and will ask her to clarify...think she got a bit mixed up bless her.
