I watched Corrie with my husband the other night, and was really impressed with the way it was done. Especially when the doctor said she probably knows more than he did - as this has proved to be the case for many of us!!
I hope the storyline won't completely revolve around Izzy's condition, as i prefer the way she's portrayed at the moment - as a character, who just happens to have EDS, rather than the disability being the main focus.
But well done to HMSA for getting the message across so well to the program producers. Anything that raises the awareness of EDS and HMS has got to be good for us all!

What her Dr actually said was that she probably knew more about it than "most GPs". I know the majority here have had bad experiences with doctors but there are some good ones who are willing to listen, learn and even be lead by us ;)

I don't think Izzy's pregnancy storyline will revolve around her condition but it's bound to come up over the next 7 months or so as the pregnancy progresses, ligaments etc relax and bump grows.

Any mention HMS/EDS or the HMSA gets ( ) can only be a good thing

I suspect her condition may come up with her Dad. He's being massively grumpy about her being pregnant, and the most convincing reason I can think of for that is he thinks she shouldn't be getting pregnant and putting her body through that.
It might just be that he's grumpy and doesn't like Gary though...

I've liked it so far though. Dr. Carter has been unbelievably good but it is a theme in Corrie already that Dr. Carter is some kind of angel doctor.

Her Dad (Owen) spilled his guts tonight and admitted he's worried how (with her disability) she will cope with being a mother ;-)

I'm a few episodes behind, but am also pregnant (although quite a way ahead of Issy!). I can totally relate to her anxiety about telling her dad - I was worried how my mum would react too. Fortunately my fears were unfounded and she's been great - this being soapland though I can't see Owen being so calm!!

I don't watch Corrie and didn't realise that Izzy has EDS, this is great though. Anything that raises awareness in a realistic way has to be a good thing. I don't want to start watching Corrie but this info here is really helpful to follow what's going on with it.

Hooray, we (HMSA and hypermobilty) got a mention after the programme. That's great awareness and may also help get the message through to many people (doctors, physios) who don't think hypermobility could ever be a problem.

I may have cried a little (even though I knew it was coming because I accidentally clicked onto the Corrie website and saw a shot of Izzy in a hospital bed looking more than a little distraught). I adore Izzy.
They did a good job of showing Izzy all alone in hospital with everyone else going "she can try again" but with Izzy herself trapped in this maze of not ever being able to try again because of the pain and the fear and all the rest of it.

This is a difficult time for many forum users and sufferers of HMS who can relate to the Izzy story. We are here to support where we can.

As you say Izzy is trapped, maybe the researchers for Corrie will put Izzy through the Stanmore rehabilitation process!

Now that would BE awesome awareness and insight into the condition if you could organise that

I felt like the storyline has ended too soon for izzy and has been a bit of a cop out on the show's part. I understand that this is what can happen with some people but I think it would have been better if she had remained pregnant and they could have portrayed all the problems and difficulties that she was going to encounter along the way. It has barely touched the surface..

I suppose at least they mentioned the condition as there is very little awareness of our problems.
