Hi all, I'm putting together a collection of splints for the splint swap shop - if anyone has any unwanted or unused splints etc, feel free to bring them along to the residential, alternatively you can send them to me in advance as I will probably be bringing the car for the weekend. PM me for my address.

I can't wait to meet everyone, I have now received my confirmation that I am going yay!!!! Now I just need someone to look after my guinea pigs and I'm sorted :) If I get some spare energy I'm going to try to decorate a pair of nasty grey crutches & we'll have to see who comes up with the best design

Hope its not as hot as it has been this last week cause I'm melting

Yay posted off my cheque for the residential yesterday. As I don't know anyone face to face I don't mind who I share with.

I think I've got about 15 splints for the swap shop - you know what it's like, they look great online then they just aren't right

Ooooo I'm SO excited! Posting my other £75 today!!

Hah, when I was "normal" and was going on holiday it was "what clothes do I take? I need something for all eventualities" ... now it's "which braces? Crutches or scooter?" got to love it!!

hit my target of 20 cross stitches :D finished another a few days ago which i were gonna put in a ruler, its got cupcakes and butterflies on it. will put a photo on facebook of it but not sure whether it'll be for sale because when my mum saw it she said she really like it so i might have to keep that one for my mum for christmas! i'm still madly stitching away though, moved my target to 30 now and what more i actualy found a card sized zebra cross stitch kit so i've ordered that, may have to stitch a few of those or their might be a fight over it

Hi everyone,

I have been looking through my wardrobe and have found some things to bring to the splint stand:

A pair of purple half cuff crutches

A funky folding walking stick (with a colourful paint splash design)

A Right thumb splint

A Right wrist splint

Carla - is it ok to bring physio aids too?, if so I also have the following:

A Gym ball

Assorted thera bands (still in their original packaging)

If I find anymore I will add it to the pile.

Looking forward to seeing everyone in September.

And don't forget folks, I shall be launching "When you hear hoof beats..." - the latest HMSA poetry booklet at the residential. The booklet will be £5.00, so start saving up your pennies now.
Take care all,

Sue xx

Hi Carla,

I also have a collection of unused cushions, including one with a Zebra print that should go down well (I bought it on a whim but it dosn't go with anything in my house :shifty: )

Hello everyone
I have booked for the residential weekend. My first foray into this. Looks as if it's going to be really interesting.
I am finding transport a bit of a problem.
To save my husband a 7 hour round trip twice is anyone else going from the Wiltshire/Somerset/Dorset area ?
Thanks
Ellie :)

hiya all,

sorry Ellie, i'm gonna be coming from london. but if anyone's coming from the west london area i have space in my car for up to 4 people (at the moment it only contains me). and my car's a vauxhall astra so can fit loads in the boot so there'll be plenty of space for wheelchairs etc

Carla I still have the splints you gave me for the Big Bash, so I will bring them.
Sue I might be interested in your purple crutches! Are the cushions sitting on cushions?

Tabi ; Check in is 5pm.

Dinner at 7pm, followed by coffee in the lounge with a short welcome speech from Helene Raysnford. Thought we could start the weekend off with some inspiration!

If anyone is going to be late they need to let me or Nick know. The people who are going will have a mobile phone number that they can use from the 9th Sept-12th Sept. Please do let us know if you are likely to miss dinner and we can arrange a snack to be put back for you. We will also worry if people suddenly dont appear!

Nearer the time, I can email you all with confirmation of room numbers and who is sharing with who. We have done our best to match people up as requested but we are now nearly full for rooms, so I cant hold the rooms much longer for those people who are expecting someone to pay a deposit for a booking. I need those people to either make a PayPal payment, and then email me on admin@hypermobility.org to confirm that they have made the payment and that they are still wanting to share with so and so.

Also a reminder; all final balances need to be paid by the 15th July. So please can we have all final balances in before that. We shall then be opening the rest of the places (may not be any rooms but Premier Inn and B&B nearby in Market Harborough). Obviously the deposits are non-refundable but we cant hold rooms on deposits for long. I hope you all understand that there is many people who want to come to the Residential so places will be wanted.

Apart from that I have a request from Dr Hakim. Please can anyone with any questions on HMS or related issues please submit questions prior to the residential via the office...that would be me again! admin@hypermobility.org . I need all questions to be submitted by the 10th August please. There are no guarantees that your questions will be answered as we will pick out the ones that wont be answered through any of the other topics etc. Obviously please only send in questions if you are attending the residential.

I know some of you have asked if we plan to film the weekend. It has been decided that we wont be doing that this year. Basically we have done it several times and then never had the time or money to be able to edit and copy it all to discs. I know this will be a blow for some of you, especially those who have asked from Canada and USA. What we will do is ask for copies of the presentations, most of these will be in powerpoint and note form. These will be available hopefully to everyone who asks and for a small donation to cover costs and postage. if people need help to understand what is being said in the powerpoints or notes then we will be happy to explain.

I cant think of anything else to tell you all but I am sure something will come to me in the middle of the night! I am starting to feel a little stressed by the whole thing now! And just hope you will all be happy and not chasing me round to lynch me!
