Sorry Poppy about the 'Mrs' it was pre-hols!

I need to apparently re-word the term disabled access room for clarity and to ensure we dont misrepresent the hotel. There are no disabled access rooms because of the old property, however the rooms we are using for people in chairs have wider access, more space and some hand rails etc. Nearer the time I will be able to tell you which room and what it has in it. There is apparently no need to panic these rooms have apparently always been used by wheelchair guests.

I have two foot of mail to go through so I am sure there are a lot of bookings which I will 'slowly' sort this week. Please give me a couple of weeks because after I take hols there are usually a hundred and one things to catch up on...altho I am extremely grateful to Abi Patrick for taking on the helpline and emails, as well as retro for sorting through anything urgent.

The June renewals will also come out this week, so if people havent received newsletters they can probably guarantee their membership has expired. To be fair to members and non members we will check that membership is current when taking bookings up to the 15th July when non members can apply.

It would also be very helpful if groups of friends would agree to share as we have 3 and 4 bedded rooms available. I dont want to have to match people up who dont know each other if I dont have too, if that makes sense? :D

As for sensory overload we have basically the entire hotel and grounds so I am sure we can find quiet areas to escape too. :bday:

no problem about the mrs  me and mum had a good laugh about it, doesnt take much to amuse us! good luck with getting through all that mail, sounds rather daunting. i'm frantically stitching away and have 6 or 7 cards done to sell now. hopefully they'll sell well but dont worry though if it turns out that i wont be able to have a stall after all if theirs not enough space or something it'll just mean i'm well prepared for birthdays, christmas and sending thank you cards to anyone. i'm still hoping to find some small zebra charts but so far all i've found are ones that'll take me months

Im so excited I'm finally making it to a residential!!

I know its going to be a very tough few days though. I'm so used to my adaptions and things (bath lift, rails, kettle tipper, etc) that its going to be hard work going native without them. I can't afford for my carer to come with me so I'l be soloing through the weekend so expect not to see me much unless you come to watch me sleeping. Tbh i doubt I'l manage to shower (defo not bath) but Im sure between us all we can help each other out with stuff.
It says on my confirmation receipt that I'l be getting a ground room if possible but I'm fine with being upstairs if someone else needs it more than me. (if tabi is ok with that too - we are sharing a room). I'm bringing my sticks but imagine I'l be in my chair most the weekend.
Im coming on the national express coach (6 hours of bum numbing) then have to get a taxi from the bus station to the hotel (need to contact hotel about taxi numbers for quotes).
I am bit worried about the sunday though. The hotel are fully booked sunday night so there is no space for bendies wanting to stay the extra night, which means Il have to get the coach home on the sunday afternoon missing most of the last day.

Is there anyone driving from the north with space in the car who I could maybe share with? (I'l pay petrol etc). I live in hartlepool. I'l probably have a suitcase, a backpack, my crutches and my wheelchair (the chair is a sports chair so the wheels come off and the frame sits on the back seat if not in the boot).

Oh and Im making lots of stickmen models, based on hannahs books, to sell at the residential for the hmsa so bring some extra pennies.

Had a thought:

Are the rooms ensuite? and if so will there be proper 'disposal units' in them?
I'm incontinant and also have a whole heap of medical devices and such that I need to go to the loo so sharing a more public loo can be difficult. I use (and need to dispose of) catheters, enemas etc. I can prepare for non-ensuite if needed.

Rooms are ensuite. But I am getting low now on rooms, so if Tabi wants to share with you then I need her to send in her deposit so I can guarantee she is with you, otherwise I will have to pop someone else in.

Ideally we need groups of friends who wouldnt mind sharing, ie 4-5 beds with it a double/twin with 3 sofa beds etc. I really dont want to have people forced into rooms who dont know each other.

There is a Premier Inn 5 miles outside of the hotel. So it might be better to stay there on the Sunday night, rather than miss all the talks on Sunday.

Please note that Jacqui Clinch is no longer able to attend on the Sunday, so we are looking for someone who can do a similar presentation,

just had a thought after decorating my crutch with stickers, maybe its a silly idea but a lot of us have to use braces, sticks, crutches, wheelchairs and well the list goes on of things to help us so how about a competition for the best decorated braces, stick, crutch etc? their could be a small entry fee which would help raise funds for the HMSA

Is there anyone I could catch a lift with? I won't have very much stuff just myself and a bag and I'll pay some money towards petrol

Iv told tabi about her deposit. I don't mind sharing with someone else if she can't get it in on time but with my continence issues it wouldnt be suitable for me to share a double bed with someone. hope that doesnt cause a problem.

I'm sooo excited about the rresidential! I've sent my deposit and stuff and have put down who I would like to share with but if needs be I can be with bigger groups, even on my less able days I can take care of myself and on my good days I can help others if needs be... (until recently worked as a carer for severly disabled adults) so whoever needs a roomie... can pinch me :)
also I'm currently working on my nail art (just a personal interest) so if anyone would like their nais painted then come see me!!
some examples are on facebook...would be good to have someone to practice on besides me! (and occasionally my boyfriend)
some examples are on face bopok for those who know me

hiya,

I'm posting my deposit tomorrow, had to wait to see if my best mate had that weekend off (as she sometimes has to have meetings at the weekend) but she cant make it so i'm happy to share with anyone who needs a room-mate.

i'm also happy to share one of those bigger rooms if anyone wants to share one with me? i'm quite a sociable person so i dont mind sharing with a stranger- they wont be a stranger for very long!

Can't decide whether to go or not, not been to one before and would love to meet others. Feel I 'know' many of you now on face book but would need to share with someone. I would be coming on my own from the High Peak if anyones around here who'd like to come with me or if anyone's not got anyone to share with.....

Smylie, do come, it is usually a great weekend. You get to know people pretty quickly, although if you are as forgetful as me you will spend the weekend reading people's name badges thinking 'I recognise the face but .................'

oohh thanks for reminding me rosie, i best warn people that my memory is almost non existent, it doesn't seem to like morphine so it's quite likely that i won't even remember those that i were talking to quite a lot last year. so please don't think i'm being rude it'll just be my rubbish memory! hey maybe some of you can help me decide whether my mum may have hms, i'm trying to figure out which of my parents to blame  but it's a little difficult with my dad having complained about achey joints for years but he did fall off a lot of horses (he used to break them in) and had horses fall on him too so might not be hms might be old injuries giving him problems cos he's getting older now. my mum has a bad back and apparently her pelvis is out of alignment, her hands are giving her trouble now and her knees crack more than mine do!
