Hi,

Me and my partner Rich are booking to come along to the weekend. I am really looking forward to it as I really enjoyed it last time, even though it was very tiring sitting through the lectures! It looks like a very interesting number of talks over the weekend and hoepfully we can learn more to improve our lives. I will put my thinking cap on for some ideas to raise funds over the weekend. The splint swap is a great idea, I will have a hunt and see if I can find anything to bring along. The location of the hotel looks lovely so hopefully the weather will be nice for some gentle country walks.

Jess - I think that is "lack of sleep" pattern! Yes please can we share a room - I will post my deposit off once I get my booking form :)

Sending off my form tomorrow. Have never been on a HMS residential weekend before and I'm excited to meet everyone and hopefully find out how I can improve my life which at the moment is fairly non existant as I've had pain in my hip/leg for a week which has stopped me from doing much. Its ok if I don't walk but then how are you supposed to do anything?? Got some different anti inlams so hoping these will help it to settle down. Just hope I don't have any bad days when the weekend away comes around!

Hope everyone is enjoying the nice weather & are not having too many probs because of it. I need air con just so I can get my make up on and as I don't have air con a fan has to suffice!!! The OH suggested the other day not to bother with make up as I was so hot but I would rather stick my head in front of a fan in order to get my make up on so that I don't look like a zombie from a dawn of the dead film!!!!

Hi Donna,

That is great news that Brad Tinkle is involved with the weekend as it would be lovely to meet him after being in touch with him on Facebook. He is very dedicated to HMS/EDS so no doubt he will provide us with lots of insight and info on the condition that we may not already know.

WOW! so now it's not 'only' THE top UK specialists that will be there and speak, now it's international top docs speaking!
(for those that might not know, tinkle is from the US and he's written and published one of the few books on HMS)

and yep I think it will be v good! :D
all our UK top docs are v special docs indeed- on top of knowing all that is known about bendy issues they are also v lovely, v approachable, v friendly and open humans :D
and from what I have heard tinkle fits right in with them

and just being with all bendies and peops that understand... is fantabulous!
for once all our 'oddness' is 'normal' :wink2:
and although generally it is rather a jolly affair, lots of joking and laughter about all our oddness and probs, if for any reason (and of course there can be many- bad pain/pots/digestive etc day or 'just' emotional overwhelmment) someone bursts into tears-
that's also taken as 'normal', no one will look at you weirdly, all understand- peops will rally to support you, but if you just want to be left alone- you just need to say and it will happen-

one word of 'warning'/advice... the whole thing can indeed be rather exhausting... so best plan on having a few 'easy/dont do too much' days before and after if you at all can...
with all the 'happy excitement adrenalin' I was 'crazily bouncin about like tigger' during the conference... but 'crashed' big time for some days once home (and the adrenalin stopped)-
but the experience of the conference was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO worth the 'crash'!!!!!!!!! :D

I got my welcome pack in the post yesterday, and the booking forms for the Residential with it. I'm really, really excited at the idea of it, even though I don't know anyone. Hopefully it'll be a good opportunity to get to know some of you, as well as learning lots from the sessions.

Yay!

i got my receipt and letter too although i'm seriously worried about my memory cos the letter says mrs so i must've got married but dont remember and now i'm wondering who my husband is and where he is  also the letter says i've been given a disabled room, i were just wondering if thats right or not because i can bring loads of stuff with me so that i can use a normie room. anyway if i have been appointed a disabled room and someone says they need a disabled room when their all taken we can always swap rooms as long as i know a day or 2 before the weekend so we know what we need to bring with us
