I understand that mooncat and am in no way implying that the HMSA haven't made great efforts to try to accommodate as many dietary needs as possible it's just that it's hard to make choices if they aren't stated on the menu. I'll email Donna and ask which ones are safe but thought would bring it up on here as I know of at least a few people who would find the information helpful. I always carry around safe snacks in case I'm in a situation where nothing is available as do most people I know who have specific dietary needs, very sensible suggestion there :bye:

I have asked them to re-do the menu and indicate which is which to help clarify...

Thanks Donna, sadly still little that my son is willing to eat as he dislikes most of it! Saturday lunch is no good for either of us if the pasta has garlic and neither of us can have feta cheese and salad is very iffy for me and no good for my son as he does not eat it. The desserts are no good for my son either. Sunday lunch is no good to either of us due to taste dislikes. Friday night the chicken would be ok if not in the sauce,if it is there is again no choice :( What I meant by kids food is things like fish fingers, chicken nuggets, beans, sausages etc. So if there is no option available then what happens about food? We can bring snacks but it is a long time to snack only. I assume the cost of the residential includes food (please do not take this comment wrong) so if we cannot eat do we get any price reduction? May have to see if we can get transport to eat out otherwise.

the menus are always an issue... :S and there is no way I can keep everyone happy.

What I can say the menu will stay the same but with clear indication of what is what....they know we need lactose, gluten etc

I know there will be no way that they will be doing nuggets, fish fingers, chips etc....its just not that kind of venue and I would probably make them feel insulted by suggesting it,

Yes the cost of the Residential includes the food...but the set up is the same as the last weekend, so those of you who attended last time no the score.

All I can suggest is snacks...sorry! I will bring my own snacks too, so its not just delegates that are restricted ,.. will we all be to a degree at some stage over the weekend..

I cant stop you going out for a meal etc.

***I am not posting to offend anyone, I'm very tired and not able to say what my brain wants to***

Regarding the food for the weekend - it's very difficult catering for lots of people, most of whom have allergies or intolerances so it's understandable not everyone can be catered for. I'm pleased to see that Hothorpe Hall have put together a menu - it will be even better when we know which meal is suitable for gluten/lactose etc

I'm not expecting them to cater for my food needs - due to the number of allergies I have I feel it's unfair to push it on them. I will be arriving with a box of food that I can nibble on through the weekend.

Madmum I would suggest taking food with you in case you and your son can't eat what is available. There are many things that can be put together that don't need cooking and if you want to keep things cool then you can take a cool box and pack it with ice blocks...that will last the majority of the weekend.

Even though I'm bringing my own food I'm not expecting any money back (and I'm seriously skint!) is only a small portion of the weekend. I think the money is well worth the experience and the speakers and time together will make up for it.

I would just like to highlight the extent of my allergies...my allergies are Wheat (wheat flour, bulghur wheat, couscous, semolina, rye, barley, millet), gluten, dairy (any animal), eggs, apple, apricot, blackberry, cherry, lychee, nectarine, peach, pear, plum, prune, watermelon, oranges, satsumas, clemtines, mango, artichoke, asparagus, avocado, beans and pulses (lentils, chick peas, broad beans, soy beans, black eyed peas, butter beans, haricot beans, kidney beans, chestnut, split peas), beetroot, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, chicory, fennel, garlic, sage, leek, kale, lettuce, spinach, mange tout, mushroom, onion, peas, spring onion (white part), sugar snap peas, pistachio nuts, hazelnuts, beef, ham, turkey, tea, coffee, green tea, mustard, yeast, MSG, sugar (beet and cane), honey
"Just when I got my head together, my body fell apart".
"I think I have a problem with my joints..."
The heaviest thing I can carry is a grudge.

Hi all

Can I suggest that when we are at the weekend, they supply a listof ingredients by each meal. That way, even if we have selected a meal off the menu, we can check that it doesn't contain an ingredient that is not obvious, like the garlic for madmum, or peppers for me. It may mean that I find I can't have the meal I have chosen, but thta is better than making myself ill eating something I shouldn't.

Sensible idea Rosie. My biggest worry is feeding my 12 year old. Do not drive so will have to use a taxi if we go out. I can survive on breakfast and a snack, not him. :S

I have scanned mine and hubby's menus, highlighted choices, and ready to email them in. Which email do I send to? Just the admin@hypermobility.org, or is there a different address to send to? I have lost all faith in the postal service recently to prefer emailing since that way I know they have arrived :D

PS. Getting very excited now we are getting closer - just need to start thinking what on earth I am going to wear on Saturday night since I am too fat for my nice clothes :S

sorry if this has already been answered or if I am missing the obvious - but have I understood it correctly that there are several timetables running - and therefore you can't see everything?? Do you have to chose which speakers you want to see and miss out on some?? x x
Finally diagnosed March 2011 after 20 years of hypochondria!!!
