I'm really sorry to hear that. Surgery on top of everything. Hugs. I can't think of anything new or groundbreaking to suggest for the pain. A hot water bottle? Ice? It depends on what works for you, it might give some relief? Thinking of you.

Hi Goddess,

I am sorry to hear you are suffering after your operation. Was the ovary removed laparoscopically? If so, the pain you are getting under your rib and in your shoulders may be due to the residual gas that is used to inflate your abdomen during the surgery so the surgeon can get a good view of what he /she is doing. I have recently had my gallbladder removed laparoscopically, and suffered withe same sorts of pains.

I found that leaning forward would help to relieve some of the gas by burping. If this is the way you had it done, you should find that the gas should disperse naturally over the next few days. Perhaps you could ask someone to gently rub your back, like you do when winding a baby. That's what I got my hubby to do for me - lol.

Good luck with your recovery, and take care,

Sue

I also had shoulder tip pain after my gallbladder was removed. It hurts like nothing else and is very annoying - you have my sympathy. The biggest relief I got was from a heat pack on my shoulder. The nurses offered me one. You could try asking them for one? At home, we didn't have one so I put some rice in a pillow case and heated it in a microwave - smelt awful but worked!

It will ease after about 4 days if it is that that's causing it.

I hope your recovery goes well.

Hi

During some operations they pump air into the body cavity to make it easier to get to the places they want. i had my gall bladder removed by keyhole surgery, and was told that the pain I had in my chest and shoulders was due to this and it gradually faded away as the gas dissipated.
